I'd just want it to scratch up something quick first-time-around, then I'd edit while listening to the audio 2nd-time. Would it work for that? As it is, I have to play the short 15-30 second audio clips 2, sometimes 3 times before getting it all the way right, and I do ~40 WPM.
OH shi-, I didn't see that part. :/ Honestly, there's nothing preventing you from LYING on a hit, but do remember that if you're caught you will get rejected, and you'll mess up research and requesters may not want to post more work on mturk, therefore leading us into mturk dying. Funny story. I was bored a few weeks back and didn't qual for a few hits but they never told me why. So I would return them but keep playing w/ the qual screener just for sh*ts and giggles. w/out realizing it, I continued into a hit and even submitted it. The requester saw that I had made multiple attempts in order to qual and rejected me. I in no way did this on purpose, but I probably could have had my AMT account suspended b/c it looked like I was trying to cheat the system just to earn a few pretty pennies. TL;DR Don't lie on surveys!
I thought about trying it. You'd have to go through and edit everything after it was transcribed because no program is going to pick up everything perfectly. I guess it depends how quickly it would type out a transcript compared to how fast we could type it on our own. The reason I ultimately didn't try it is I figured even if I typed slower than the program I'm editing as I type so over all it would still be quicker to do it all myself then to let the program type and then go back and edit. I'd be interested to know if you try it and what kind of results you get.
On my phone. Turklyfe you good with computers? I can save 200$ if i can grt my desktop running. Like i said bought a new gfx card, monitor wouldnt recognize it, went into bios had video boot from pci e first. It worked. Moved and now that doesnt work. Im at a loss. Motherboard gives me video though just csnt get the resolutiom optimal
Will do, I'm downloading it now. So I should have some solid numbers tomorrow - I'll try to keep it scientific, and I'll shoot for longer clips (>30sec, hopefully >1min) (do a typing speed test, find the WPM rate of an audio clip etc.). So yeah, I'll post here, maybe make a thread if it works really good.
Once, off Mturk, I got a transcription job to re-do what someone else had messed up for the first 10 minutes of an audio file. It was obvious they had used an automated transcription program, not sure if it was Dragon, but it was annoying as hell to fix. It probably took longer to fix than if I had just done it. YMMV, I'm interested in any experiments!

I'm pretty good with computers. Maybe the GPU got damaged during shipping? I would hook monitor up to the motherboard, go into safe mode and use Driver Fusion to get rid of the old graphics driver. http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion Then run CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download , the registry-cleaner function. It's "safe-ish" to clear all the registry stuff it finds, just make sure to back up the registry first (it'll prompt you). But if you just want to run off the motherboard - do you know what model motherboard it is? It's possible if you install the chipset drivers, it'll support your max resolution. And this is a dumb question, but are you 1000% sure the power connector to the graphics is fully in?
Really? I'm curious on how this would show up unless it's linked to your amazon shopping account. Unless we told AMT what genitals we own when we signed up, I honestly can't remember anymore.
Does anyone know why there are so many "an surveys" on mTurk? I don't understand why so many requesters make that mistake. For example: "This is an survey."
