I have posted 50 assignments in a HIT for $0.50 for each. It is a biology related task extracting data from images. I was wondering why I had not had any takers and reading the forum I have realized I defaulted to masters qualification required. Can I change this? Or do I have to cancel and start the HIT again. Also the hit says 1 available although I thought it should say 50. I would be grateful for any feedback as to the desirability of the task or otherwise. A search for Murray cod will find it (an Australian fish). Thanks in advance. Couchy
Hi Couchy, I believe you have to pull the batch and re-post it in order to change the qualifications. It is a good idea to remove the master's qual, but do not leave it unqualified. I would recommend placing a qualification that requires "HIT approval rate is not less than 98%". It looks like you may have developed the HIT to allow only 1 to be completed by each unique worker, which is why it shows only 1 available. There may be 50 in total, but only 1 available to each of us. For help with this, try here: https://forums.aws.amazon.com/forum.jspa?forumID=11# As for the HIT itself, it seems reasonable. How are you going resolve duplicate submissions? I think it would help you to articulate your approval/rejection policy within the HIT. Many workers avoid new requesters until they have developed a reputation - a worker is not going to take a chance on having their work rejected as rejections have long-term consequences for us. Good luck with this project - I am willing to check out your task once the qualifications are changed.
I can't even view it now couchy, as it's restricted to US only (I'm Canadian eh) I would imagine you'll get more takers now, but I think your qualifications leave it open to scammers. I would still recommend using a minimum approval rate, and possibly a minimum HIT submission rate. If you go with a minimum of 1000 approved HITs and a minimum 98% approval rate, you should be able to exclude most of the scammers (the theory being that scammers would not be able to maintain a high accuracy). If you go with higher qualifications, you can remove the country restriction as you'll get good workers, no matter where they're from.
oh thank you again swiftkick. I did have 98% and 500 which I have now up'd to 1000 as you suggest but the country eligibility invisibly defaults to US only. Hopefully I have fixed that this time by excluding just a couple of countries. (not Canada eh)
