i often check "other" and usually will just put "mixed" (i'm white and native) if "mixed" or "multi/biracial" isn't an option. I have, in the past, checked "Other" and written "Irish", "human", and "android", but never on a HIT.
Hi all, I'm new here. I decided to join after lurking for a few weeks. I was able to pass 1,000 HITs very quickly after following up on some of the good batches that were posted. To quickly introduce myself: I'm a university student currently working on a combined BA/MA degree in philosophy. I use mTurk to help pay for food, electricity, gas, and whatever that's left over. I started turking October 6th and have made around $175 so far.

I put the other box usually since I am Russian, and Russian do not consider themselves white. In most the world white is often considered to be "American."
I've requested it I dunno how many times. No response to emails. I've given up and enjoy the brief moments I get to see the other batch during the week.
Race and Nationality aren't the same thing. I'm Russian-Hungarian, Irish, German, and Mexican. My "race"/ethnicity is Caucasian-latina. (sometimes they have Hispanic and non-Hispanic Caucasian options, but not often...) but my Nationality is American.
Hey Sas, If you have a qual id check the transcripts and see if you've been assigned a job with your number. If not contact Mary Ann or Priscilla. Mary Ann is Priscilla's assistant, she mainly assigns jobs and checks up on them. I hear Priscilla will be out of the office until Tues. If your number matches you will be able to tap into the job. i guess i really know nothing about this whole process, i just did the video qual and noticed today i have the 'myid' qual from them. no other contact about anything, though...

It's just that people from other countries often call themselves by nationality and when they speak talk about white people they speak of Americans, I challenge you to walk up to a german and ask them if they are white, they will reply "No, I'm German." same with Russians, I am a Russian citizen also. I also understand what you are saying too about race and nationality.
I know, I know =-) (My family's also reaaaal big on how we're Russian-Hungarian and NOT Austrian-Hungarian! LOL) But on the surveys, they're totally not the same thing. I get how non-American's would put that though. =-)
Checking in for today. Projected earnings a sad 3.25, a huge letdown after the firestorm of yesterday (over 18 bucks!!!). Are Sundays always like this?
