My mom was a waitress for about 10 years when I was growing up. We were so poor! In the late 70s, early 80s she made around $4000-5000 per year. I've made more than that turking in the last 8 months. We got food stamps for maybe 2 months and then she said that we would just get by. I had to take care of my brother from the time he was born because she would head to work at 3 am, which was across the street from us, then she'd come home around 4 and sometimes head back. She worked 6-7 days a week. We very rarely had meat in anything, if we did it was Spam and as a part Hawaiian, that stuff makes me gag! We lived in a 500 sq foot duplex and didn't have a car or tv for the better part of my childhood. When I was 15 she got a job with the state as a social worker. The stories she told was infuriating and depressing. She would tell of GM execs coming in making $100K plus (back in the 80s again) begging for food stamps. I would come meet her for lunch and see people going up to the window to pick up there fs in full leather outfits, Gucci purses as their brand new Caddie sat outside. It was infuriating to me then and still is. I know that there are people that desparately need it, I get that, but there are so many people abusing it that it's ridiculous. When I went back to college for another degree a couple of years ago, one of my friends said that he was so mad because he could no longer collect food stamps. Well, he never paid for food - his girlfriend did, didn't pay rent or any bills - his mom did. He was 33! On top of that, his school was paid for and he made $40,000 in scholarships and grants - that didn't have to go to school fees, tuition or anything. And he was complaining about not getting food stamps. Another friend came from a very wealthy family and got it just because. I try not to be too judgmental of people and I'm sure I'm going to get flamed/jumped on, but I think back to when I was a kid and we were eating rice and eggs quite a few times a week because they were cheap, we survived. I got a job at 12 and have worked ever since. We were so poor the welfare kids picked on me ruthlessly because my mom waited on them in the restaurant. Them and their 400 lbs moms. ERRRGGGH frustrates me just thinking about those a-holes. I digress. If you need please use it, but please don't abuse it.
I'm trying to do the NoblisCV hits but it keeps telling me I need to download Java. I did some the other day with no problem. Just to be on the safe side I re-downloaded and installed Java but it didn't make any difference. What am I missing/doing wrong?
Are you a polar bear or a, you know, brown bear? Because the level of judgment you're getting is going to be a whole lot milder in one of those cases.
Not really an unusual delay. Lots of HITs don't pay out for 3 days or more. Some take weeks. They have 30 days to approve anyway, so not unexpected, IMO.

If your political opinion is to hate poor people or kick them while they're down then you're part the problem in this country. They're not cattle, they're human beings. Being against foodstamps because a few people abuse them is like telling the whole class not to chew gum because one little shit got it stuck in his hair. I got them when I lived on my own in high school. I was in line one day at the grocery store and some asshole behind me said "You should have stayed in school." I knocked the couple of groceries he was holding out of his hand and told him to not fucking judge me and that I was a senior in high school. He just shut up and walked away and the person running the cash register just smiled. The moral of the story is that you have no idea what someone else is going through unless you personally know them. I haven't had any government assistance since high school but I sure as shit was glad to have help when I needed it.

I checked my extensions and it says Java is up to date, I've check the permissions and Java is allowed, I've closed the browser and restarted but I still get the same result - tells me to download Java. I guess I'm not doing these today
We never know what struggles anyone faces. I have learned a lot just from interacting with people on this forum.
