BlueMoods & DenisH - I find that an interesting stat, that all three (is it strange that I consider whether or not to use "3" or three here?)of us used alright! It would seem that the stats, in this case, are that 3/3 non professional writers regularly use the word alright. You're right about it not being in the previous guidelines sheet. Good point about "already" vs "all ready" as well Denise. I thought the exact same thing when I was looking up info on "alright" vs "all right" as others were bringing up the same thing. It's still great that, through this, our English is getting even better. What's not so great is that Crowdsurf users need to resort to outside forums for help. What would be really crazy to find out is that before this addition to the guidelines of how to transcribe all right, that reviewers were marking all right as an error. I mean I'm sure that's absolutely not the case, but it is fun to think about for a second.

tdalton43 - Actually the message wasn't very detailed but here is what she said:
On another HIT that was marked as "fair", the reviewer left this feedback: "There was general background noise and then a distinct sound of a door slamming or closing. This was not a blank audio."

I couldn't agree with you more about this being very confusing and unclear in their guidelines. At least you learned a new word from it. I love learning new vocab, but that's just me :) I'm actually an Android Programmer and have been working on a vocabulary themed app for about a year now. It'll be out there someday.

Next time I get a hit that is blank with some background noise I'm going to mark it with just a [SOUND] and then see if anything negative comes my way.

One thing I did for fun was to check out a bunch of the review hits (I don't have reviewing abilities but can still view them) and the quality of the transcriptions I've seen every time have been pretty bad. I know the quality of what I'm submitting is much better at least.

I think all we can do is come together and share thoughts and ideas here.

Well, my self-imposed exile ended today and so far I am sitting at 4.0. How long that may last is anybody's guess but I'm feeling much better than I was last week. I'm still treading cautiously until I can fully restore my confidence...we'll see how everything plays out.

I hope everyone has a great week, on MTurk and elsewhere! Cheers.

That's good. There were a couple sweet spots today with some easy transcription work in the ten cent batch. There were also some doosies. (however doosy is spelled.) I hope you are hanging in strong BlueMoods. I had a great start, and then there was a sudden drop from a perfect score at some point. For me, after trying both ways, I got to say it really helps to be super careful like we were, study the guide over and over. And then once we've gone through a healthy dose of compulsive drama, just let it go. Take it easy, and speed it up some, ride along for the bumpy ride, pretend it's a rodeo. I know I'm not doing perfect, and neither is their scoring system, but it seems to be definitely improved over the last week when we were all on here going, what the heck? I'm pleased enough that they are working on it, and I'm putting in some effort from time to time to peek their guide over here and there.

Thanks, Denise. Needless to say, my 4.0 didn't last long. After my second HIT of the day I went to 3.50 (still way better than last week's 1.5!!!!) Then I was able to bring it up to 3.75, and last time I checked it was at 3.8. Anything 3.0 or better is okay with me. And I'm not even sure how that would affect me anyway, since I don't really care at the moment about getting qualified to review or to go with Crowd Virtualizer. Am I interpreting this right, that the only thing that really matters as far as transcribing on MTurk goes is the qualification score? Which btw is sill holding steady at 2007. So unless it starts dropping points for some reason, I think I'm ok. Oops, I mean okay. :D It's really more a matter of pride and self confidence than anything and boy did it take a battering last week. Hopefully that's over...for more than just me!

exactly, keep it nice above the 1k mark and you should be fine.
and to be honest, the CV qual is really beneficial. you make way more money than on the transcribing HITs and you have an alternative when times are dry

How recently? Since they updated them a couple of weeks ago (or whenever that was?) What sort of changes?

It seems like they tweak it about once a week, and then the changes stay red for at least a few days to a week or so?

CrowdSurf's spell check seems to be disabled and I am pretty happy about that.

Yes, I get that. I think it is a server problem and not your computer. I clear my cache and reboot the computer. Hope that helps you.
