Mom got a free iPhone today, ffs. B) Like they're not suffering enough? Every single one of us spends money on things we like to cheer ourselves up every so often. This idea that the lower class must be constantly suffering, constantly vigilant, every second of the day, in order to "appear" worthy, is absurd. (And then, of course, if they play the part well enough that they actually look poor, we judge them for that, too.) (Or if they do their best to assimilate and NOT look the part, we judge them for THAT. Yay! No winning!)
