I learnt about mturk 3 days ago and created an account 2 days back.
I AM SURE THAT THIS IS MY ONLY ACCOUNT FROM MY IP. and no one uses my computer
Why does they reject my registration ?? :(
    I am from India.
They don't accept accounts from my country or what ??

"We have completed our review of your Amazon Mechanical Turk Worker Account. Unfortunately, you will not be permitted to work on Mechanical Turk. Thank you for your interest in Mechanical Turk."

  2. Since last month it sounds as if Mturk has put a halt on hiring new workers outside U.S. and this ofcoz includes Indians...Lets hope this decisive action is just temporary and the intake process will be soon resumed

  3. Yes srinivas. They don't accept accounts from our country. It's not because of something that YOU did wrong. It's because of some of those who've joined before you, that screwed it up.

  4. I don't even think it is that abraham - they are also rejecting account from other non-US countries, too. I suspect it's more a question of balance (inreasing the ratio of US to non-US workers). This will be a requester-led decision I would suggest.

  5. If this is anythng related to increase of pay rate to workers I'll be more than excited :D

Indians have increased the market share of Mturk and helped them gain popularity and more customers. And now since they have a good market reputation, they want to weed out indians and make it a US only. I'm sure that is the reason they are not accepting new indian members, so as to discourage any indians who want to work in mturk. Those who are already abroad, they may say that they are lucky but who knows soon Mturk will come out with a new policy making it a complete US only company.

You might think that I say a lot of negative things in this forum but it's better to think and presume much ahead of time based on the clues and hints.

  7. But the point is, sharique...

IT IS NOT JUST INDIANS NOT GETTING ACCEPTED.

I wrote to them demanding an explanation. Let us see what they say.
Most probably they will ignore the mail. I guess so :(

  10. Yes they will probably ignore your email and honestly you have just been given an explanation so what more are you expecting for them to say? Amazon is simply not approving accounts for Indian, and other, workers. Their reasoning is their own and who knows if it will change in the future.
