Has anyone here ever considered/tried to make a true profession out of mTurk?

It might seem strange but you might could work hours like you would normally for a job (9-5) and it could work out.

    What about you guys?

No way. It would be kind of fun for a while but it would get old and stressful after a few months. I think the inconsistency of HIT availability would make daily earnings stressful to manage. Also, to really make some money, you'd have to be glued to the computer and wouldn't really develop any skills or satisfaction. I'd like to hear from someone who makes $100k annually from mTurk alone or even a quarter of that amount...

I briefly considered it... very briefly. Most hits pay such a small amount that I don't think it would be possible.

    Profession to mturk mission impossible?

Right now Im barely making four dollars a day. I have only crossed into double digits once. I dont think this can turn into a full time profession.

If you don't have real bills its possible, like if you have parents or a husband who are paying for rent and food. If you have real life expenses though, I don't think its a realistic career choice. Unless if maybe more people starting using it and paying better for HITs.

Yeah, as a career it would be useless. For me, I'm a student who likes reading, so the fact that I can basically turn this into free books from Amazon is really nice. But I barely do a hit a day, so a career I think would be out of the question.

Yeah, that seems a little difficult.

I can't see it really being a thing to make a living at. Like other have said, it's good for extras but hard to imagine living on the income.
You really never know day to day what HITS will be out there, so it would certainly be inconsistent money.

I can't imagine working on little menial tasks for a living. Especially when people are competing for the best HITs, it's not a reliable source of income.

well i dont taking mturk as a regular profession is a good idea, it is good for part time work but it can run your household. May be in future if there are hits bigger rewards, it could be possible but at the moment NO is my answer.

NO is also my answer. Only if there were much larger rewards for HITs. At the moment, there are only a small handful of HITs worth over 5 USD.

For even a reasonable wage, you would have to complete 2-3 every hour, every day.

Plus, the stress factor, as noted above.
