I suffer from very severe panic/anxiety disorder. So working a traditional job is near impossible for me. the discovery of mturk has literally changed my life! I did work previously as a freelance web application programmer, but with the economy gone to shit it became impossible for me to make any real money doing this any longer.
Is $1000 a month possible without wanting to jump off of a roof? Obviously I'd like more, but this is just a number I'd like to hit.
Nah, I spent the last 6ish years in the military. No days off working from home is like a fucking vacation.
Those are my goals too. 5 bucks a weekday and 10 on weekends. Just do a little after the kid goes to bed most nights.
I worked for ChaCha back in the day when they only had Generalists, and they paid .10 a question. Needless to say, I stopped doing that when they started only paying .01.
I read about mTurk in a forum at anandtech in 2008. It talked about how the future was all about micro-jobs and micro-payments. I did one, maybe two HITs and forgot about it. Then tried again in 2009. Three months ago I read about a guy that was going to make 10K investing from the couch and mTurk was how he planned to get the initial bankroll. So I decided to play along and see if I could keep up. Today I looked at his post and he's at $173, I'm at $780
I found it a few years ago while looking work online. It was great while I was in college-- sitting through a boring lecture internet browsing? May as well make a couple bucks at it.
Yes, I do this. I do have some decent quals, though, so it will be much more difficult until you figure out what you're good at and what HITs will allow you to excel. As a complete and total aside, it's such BS that the govt shut down intrade. I made myself quite a bit on the election. Hopefully it's back soon.
I hope this question isn't breaking any forum rules: Does anyone else have a blog, website or Youtube Channel where they are collecting Google Adsense Money? My payment is taking forever to process (since 12/20), and I'm really needing that $1,100+ payment. Has anyone else's Adsense cleared?
Yeah, I know it won't be instant, but no job ever is. How long does it take to get some good quals? I'm assuming reaching 1000 approved allows for a lot more HITs?
learn to love writing and/or transcriptions and this is reasonable. without the good writing or transcription quals, or the randomly-distributed master's qual, it'll be a lot tougher but not impossible if you have a lot of time to spend working each day. this is literally exactly my deal... yes, i've been doing better than that since i started. granted, it's only been two+ months, but even with some slow weekends and now two multi-day holidays where people are off from work, it still hasn't been that hard. i think you could get there, or really close, just by doing the majority of hits posted in this thread every day as long as you have enough total hits/approval rate. but you also need to have the time to do it. $50/day during the week and whatever you can grab on weekends to make up for slow weekdays or just make extra.
Yes, numbers are very important. You'll want to work up as quickly as you can while still maintaining a good accuracy rating. A lot of the quals require working on HITs or finishing a test, some just require you do good work on previous jobs. I'm making close to $15/hr proofreading now, when there are proofreading jobs to do.
I signed up to mturk a few years ago but it looked confusing so I didn't bother. I decided to give it another try to earn some money to buy a game or two. I ended up making $800 in a month which is really nice because I don't have a job and like a few other turkers, I have an anxiety problem.
unfortunately the weekends and nights are slower. so don't be discouraged when you have difficulty at those times
There's a HIT where you have to determine if a dot stays inside a cell or not. They pop up randomly, and have a qual test involved with them. If you pass the test you can work your numbers up very quickly by finishing these HITs. They are only .01 each, but it's pretty easy to make $6/hr still because you can do them as fast as they load basically.
I actually don't mind writing and I like to think that I do it reasonably well. I'm still patiently waiting to hear something back about the Top Tier qual. :\
