I really hate those requesters that reject your HIT just to get out of paying so lets keep a list of them here.

Post only those whove rejected a HIT you KNOW you deserved.

So far I've only encountered one but I cannot remember his name.

The only rejection I have so far is from Amazon Requester Inc, and it was a simple question so I have no idea why it was rejected.

Possibly a yes or no question?
    mispelled a word?
    slight grammar error?

These are the main HITS I've been doing and they all pay

even got a 3 cent bonus for one.

Yeah, unfortunately Amazon doesn't provide a way for requesters to un-reject a HIT.

I suspect that just as there are workers scamming the system, there are requesters doing the same thing. The best advice I can think of is to only do a few HITs from a new requester and wait to see if they approve them.

I don't really think this is true - The thing with Amazon Requesters is that they aren't really a "single" group of requesters but various different groups putting up different kinds of HITs.

Yeah I'd think that the "Are these objects the same" (or something like that) HITs are extremely high risk ones to do in terms of rejection rates - the system just poses the same question to a few workers and takes the majority answer as the "correct" answer but the thing with these HITs is that sometimes you can't really tell and then what the majority answer would be becomes more or less random.

Personally I avoid doing the "Are these objects the same" HITs unless it's very very clear cut whether the things are indeed different or the same. Otherwise it's best to steer clear of them - the vast majority of my rejections come from doing these HITs.

That said, I think the other kinds of HITs put up by Amazon Requesters are OK.

I have had very few rejections. The labelling tasks rejected 1 or 2 of mine, I stopped doing those since many of the pics are indiscernable. The other one who rejected one of mine, later switched to a "no rejection" policy. I can only guess that, several people got undeserved rejections and this was the way they fixed it.

The "are these items different" are the worst to me. I don't understand, when I follow the criteria, how they can reject so many with no explanation. I won't do them anymore. I won't work any hits where other workers determine whether I get paid or not because some people just don't care. I'm not going to risk my high rating on a percentage based on the answers of other workers. What if I did it right and two other people did it wrong? They get paid and I don't? No way!

i am really upset with Mack Griggs. He approves a couple of articles and then rejects few of them. The reason he always comes up with is "grammatical mistakes". I wonder how he approves the hits from the same worker then. The other requesters i write the articles for never reject my work. I believe that all of then need quality workwithout any grammatical mistakes:)

A big problem I have with rejected hits is that you are not given a second chance to determine if you want to submit the hit in the first place. There have been a few times when I have hit the submit buttom by mistake and there is nothing you can do about it, except just take the reject. I would like to see mturk ask requester to set up their hits so that accidental submits can be avoided.

Dudi is one requester that not only likes to reject but it also takes him a long time to pay. I have completed 700 hits for this requester and have 61 come back as rejected.

Filling the remarks coulmn should kept mandatory...

It’s pathetic that some requesters reject our HITs falsely. This is cruel. So I suggest filling the remark column from the requester side should kept mandatory.

I've had a few hits rejected for plagiarism. I obviously didn't plagiarize them because what was needed was my review for someone's site using keyword rich words, so I had to create them myself. I did 5 of them, all original, and he marked them all rejected. I know he is still going to use my reviews to drive traffic to his site. I mean, if he didn't feel like paying 90 cents a post, couldn't he make it for 10 cents or something instead and at least pay the person? I spent about 3 hours doing the 5 reviews. We work pretty hard for very little money on this site, and when we get nothing out of it for all the hard work we put in I think we should get to flag the requester or something so others don't face the same problem.

Well, almost all of us have felt that need one time or other (or atleast that's what I think). Anyways, now you can rate the Requesters too by downloading an extension from http://turkopticon.differenceengines.com/

As far as false rejection is concerned, sometimes we don't know why the HIT has been rejected. Though we may feel sure that everything was right from our side, something may have gone wrong. To err is human, to forgive divine.

And for the original post about "Requesters who reject falsely," I've had some experience. Just about nearly a month ago, I came through one such human Requester who rejected my HIT falsely. Since I was 100% sure that I'd done everything right, I was surprised on the HIT being rejected. Since nothing was mentioned in the feedback column by the concerned Requester, I asked him the reason for doing so. And here's his reply:

I was like... OMG!!! This wise guy
accidentally rejected the whole batch!!!!!! But as I said before, to err is human, to forgive divine (It's sad I don't feel I've the quality of being divine...!!!). Though he mentioned to redo it in his next HIT, I didn't do it and I take no more of his hits [maybe since I ain't divine :p].

As ergo mentioned before, I too have often felt that mturk must introduce some system to undo the rejection of HITs. That will really be of great help, though I don't see it coming soon.

BTW, do you feel I must name that Requester??? If you do, just ask for it and I'll do it. Right now, I don't know whether it'll be fair or not doing so, so I feel I'll do it only if someone asks.

    I've had five rejections

Are rejections graded by mt? I've had five, and two I think were unfair due to the lack of info available. I am referring to academic calendar dates. Requester wanted start of Fall 2009 academic schedule and most colleges do not post that info until spring classes are near mid-term. So, what are the rejection stats used for, and how do I find my mt worker number?
    Thanks
    Kim

If your rejection rate is higher, you won't qualify for certain HITs. There are certain HITs which require you to have specific approval rate.

And for finding out your mt worker ID, follow this link:

Hope you got the info you're looking for.
