I don't get what is so bad about CrowdFlower. I don't mind waiting 24 hours to get paid, it seems reasonable. Can people please enlighten the new person ?
Nobody..? Also, I saw people complaining about confusing instructions and too little pay for too much work. The tasks I did yesterday weren't bad in that way.. at all. So, if anyone could enlighten me some of why CrowdFlower should be avoided it'd be really helpful.
The reason people badmouth CF is that the amount of money they pay is hugely disproportionate to the amount of work they require per HIT. I will be the first to admit that not all CF HITs are bad - I did enough for then last year that I got a 1099, and I don’t do cheapie HITs. Many of their HITs, however, will entrap you into page after page of things to do and sections that expand, revealing even more things to do - all for trifling amounts of money. When you do the hard math, you are making much less than $1 an hour on many of their HITs. Their quality control routines are also sometimes not to be believed.
Crowdflower represents the Walmartization of work: Always low wages. Always. I can't speak for the Indian turkers here, but in the United States, even if you worked 24/7 on Crowdflower HITs, you wouldn't make enough to survive.
I hate Crowdflower HITs as well, some take two or three minutes for a penny. I agree with Slicer, they kind of trap you making you think it is easy but you end up doing it fifty times for a nickel.
I second this. I will also add.. for their 'flagging' HITs the amount they pay is not even remotely worth possibly seeing child porn. Which I, and many others, have seen. Ok quite frankly there is nothing anyone could pay me to look at anything even remotely resembling child porn.. especially being the mother of a 4 year old girl. What they pay is not worth it to possibly come across disturbing images. Even if you're not doing the 'adult' HITs, as others have said you're getting paid a few cents to go through 3 or 4 pages of rubbish. It's simply not worth it. They're a good way to pad your stats in the beginning.. but that's about it.
I stopped the photo mod stuff after seeing something I can never erase. I have 2 girls, 5 and 8. The rate is definitely not worth the risk.
Exactly. That is something you can never UNsee, unfortunately. I can forget about the gory stuff.. crime scene stuff.. whatever. But that - as a parent - I can never un-see that.
I just did my last hit for these nit picking jokers..... I submitted a response which was correct in every way except I didn't put a space between two items....then they proceed to give me five examples how it should have been written. All the examples either raneverythingtogether or had spaces in different spots than I did....it is rather apparent a robot is doing the checking....LOL...
