After you request a check from them, how long does it take before you receive it in the mail?

Actually, I rather enjoy have the money transferred directly into my bank account. Why bother going through any other service?

I'm Romanian and the only thing I can do with the earned money is to buy form amazon.com. That's pretty lame, especially from such a big company as Amazon. They've kinda disappointed me on this.

That's only for US-based workers. Turkers in India can request a check by mail, but I've no idea how long that process takes. For workers in other countries besides those two, I think the only option for payment is using the money to purchase items from Amazon.com.

How much money do you have to earn before you can request your check?

After I request a withdrawal, it takes about a week for them to process my withdrawal. After it's processed, I get the mail from them mentioning the amount I've withdrawn, the exchange rate and that it will reach me within 6 weeks. If it doesn't, then I'm to contact them. However, I generally get the cheque within 2-3 weeks.

Did you mean what's the minimum withdrawal amount? If so, I don't know exactly but predict it must be something, anything, even a cent more than $4.01 or $4.05, as $4 is the delivery cost and you've to keep a certain amount in your account (I remember once I tried to withdraw the complete amount but wasn't allowed to and so I kept a balance of a cent or 2 in the account. However, I don't remember exactly how much balance I left; it may even be 5 or more cents). So the minimum withdrawal amount for Indians must be $4.01-$4.05.

Probably trying to discourage non-US workers. Plenty of outsourced jobs as it is.

If they are trying to discourage non-US workers, one can't help but wonder why they chose not to keep the service within the USA in the first place.

because when mturk started, the economy was not in the can so most of the workers were not americans. So once the economy went into the can, they saw more people from america doing work. Now, i do ask why dont they just close down people from india and get it over with but there has to a large holding in india to keep them there. I know its the second most populated country in the world, maybe the hits wont be done as fast by the amount of americans that do them.

The truth is: US only because they want proper English. That's the main reason. Read some of the posts in this forum made by Indians and it becomes very clear ... it has nothing to do with discrimination. Stop self-pitying.

I actually believe this is the reason. It's not discrimination per se, but probably based on empirical evidence. After seeing maybe 10 or 100 bad submissions from Indians (or other non-US citizens) they got fed up and went US only.

This is coming from a non-American (I'm from Sweden) who is equally annoyed by this practice. But even so I realize that they're probably doing it for a, from their perspective, rational reason, and not just to maliciously discriminate.

I obviously don't know the circumstances of these cases, but that comment makes me think of this FAQ item.

Thus, if several people in a family are Turking from individual accounts, that would arguably violate the single account policy.
