So far I have submitted 10934 HITs and it's counting :).
So, I am going to cross 11K soon. Just now, my approval rate is not very high though. It's just over 93%. But I must get it over 95% to qualify for more HITs. Months ago my approval rate was much higher. It was at 98-99% level then.
Any suggestions on how to improve approval rate quickly will be reviewed and tested.

I would concentrate on doing the tasks that you know you do well and not be so concerned about racking up the number of hits. If you accept those that are within your skill level, you're likely get your approval rate up.

Hey, just curious suvankarc, have long have you been doing this? 11,000 is a whole lot of hits!

Make sure not to do any of the hits that have the know high percent of rejections . One that comes to mind is the Are these diferent hits. I know there are more. Another suggestion is put in a little more time doing hits .

Do more of the very fast 1 cent HITs (except the Are These Different ones ... haha ) ... the Are These Venues the Same and Ask500people.com polls come to mind though admittedly there might not always be such HITs around much of the time.

If you're the conscientious type then I'd thought that the Powerset 2 cent Evaluate Search results ones are good to do - there's always a number of them around (at least as of these few days) and are relatively fast to complete but if you do these you must take care to rate the nonsencial results that have been deliberately placed within these HITs as nonsense or you'll get rejected.

Even though these HITs might not pay as well on a per hour basis than the HITs you're used to doing you can do a lot of these and their numbers will help to 'dilute' the effects of your existing rejections on your approval rate.

$1000-1500? I think he has $2500+ already, unless he did really small HITs. I mean, think about this: to earn $2500 from 11000 HITs, you would have to do $4.4 HITs. Pretty plausible, don't you think? ;)

I have over 15,000 hits and have made over $563.00 including bonuses. It's not easy to make a lot of money on turk, but it's nice for extra scratch.

Just to poke out some eyes:

    HITs Submitted 15229
    ... Approved 14744 97.8%
    ... Rejected 329 2.2%
    ... Pending 156

    Total Earnings $6,486.43
This is my second account. My old account (prior to 2007) had over $4,000 on it.
    Total earnings: well over $10,000.

just out of curiosity, what is the timeframe for your earnings (ie months)? have you ever calculated your actual earnings per hour? i sometimes think turkers tend to exaggerate the amount they make per hour. if you don't mind my asking, what comprises the bulk of your hits (sentence rewrites, articles, etc.) i've only been turking about a half year but by replacing it with the many hours a day i used to waste i can 'almost' make minimum wage.

My main focus has been on the askville/nownow mobile/Kindle Q&A HITs. On average, I do about 100 of these per week.
My main earnings mostly originate from the weekly bonusses, and average $60-$70 a week.

I don't have an accurate estimate on how much time these take to do, but the Askville Q&A questions are no 'easy money' like they used to. They are like bonsai trees: They are small in appearance, but require great care and attention to flourish. I reside mainly on 'that other mturk forum' (I doubt you want me to name or link it here), which has a large focus on this HIT type and the weekly competition.

I combine that with 'Are these items different', mainly for fun, and these make up the bulk of the HITs submitted.

Total timeframe for this about two years, so on average $250-$300 per month.

thanks for replying -yes the 'other' forum does seem a little an*l in its obsession with Q&A leader boards or whatever that is. i kind of poked fun of them the other day so i hope i'm not banned there. i come to this board for a break from turking, not to obsess over it. [i don't know if you're affiliated in any official capacity there but i don't mean any harm].

it's interesting to me how different turking tastes are - i don't do any of the hits you mention but i've got a pretty good roll going... however, i can see burning out at this rate. i have just over 100,000 hits in a bit more than 6 months, so you might say i have turking ocd, but i'm motivated by trying to keep my kid in college - i don't think i could work this slavishly for anyone else.

LOL. Well, you could say I'm indeed affiliated with them, I'm their 'Administrator' :) But, as you can see, I don't have a one-track mind, and don't consider this board a 'threat'.

As you say, different turkers, different tastes. I need HITs that don't require continuous attention, as I mainly do them for leisure. The earnings are a plus, but mostly the 'contest' part has me addicted.

aren't you the wizard icon over there? i hope you're not the little man behind the curtain who can not be exposed....

what is funniest to me about turking is that i would expect more of an anarchist bent but instead everyone seems hellbent on serving the master.... i think amazon needs to lighten up! i remember the first 'hit' i submitted thinking, 'well this is certainly innocuous fun', but oh how quickly the darker side emerges.... greed, passion, anger, revenge - just kidding.

LOL. Indeed, I am the wizard (hence the nick). Actually, we are not too structured either, just some ppl trying to keep things in line. Stop the occasional b*tchfight, remove spam, that sort of things. As said, the Turker Nation is not attached to Amazon, although one of our admins (Spamgirl) has a periodic telephone link with them, which allows us to solve the occasional account-block. Plus, "Askville Major" occasionally pops in to inform us about changes to the Askville/nownow HITs.

And yes, mturk DOES tend to draw out the worst in people. As a requester you sadly need to brace yourself against spammers, cheaters etc.

    You are quite right.
    HITs Submitted 43708
    Approved 43244 99.0%
    Rejected 433 1.0%
    Pending 31

    Approved HITs $1,321.51
    Bonuses $34.74
    Total Earnings $1,356.25

These are my stats, and most of the people would think with over 43000 hits i might have reached 4000$ but I have got 1356$ so far.
