I have the same problems with people who review, they really need to be more careful. I had one today that the reviewer changed all of the Close Coupled to close-coupled, made my grade go way low. Close Coupled was the brand name of the WC

    Close Coupled Brand?

Are you sure on that? I did a quick Google search and found "close coupled" and "close-coupled" describing a particular type of toilet, but no brand name "Close Coupled". Although I have a strong preference for transcribing, I do occasionally do transcription reviews when I'm trying to squeak out a few extra pennies and I try to be very fair when I do them.

If you can post a Web site URL (or just send me a private message), that'd be great.

It refers to the type of toilet, but sometimes it is capitalized on shopping websites (or capitalised, for those of us who do the UK home inspection transcriptions, lol), so I can see why it would look like a brand name. Whether it's supposed to be hyphenated or not, I'm seeing both ways, hopefully no one would ding you on having it one way or the other, as long as it's consistent.

I don't think I've ever hyphenated "close coupled", but I do for a whole bunch of other compounds, like "right-hand" or "chrome-effect". What I'd like to see would be a list of preferred hyphenations from Speechink or Imfuna for some of those that can go either way. Unless they do something like this, I think dinging someone for missing a hyphen is kind of unfair. (I think their scoring is based on a diff of the transcriber's and reviewer's text divided by the total number of characters.)

Yes sorry I meant a type of toilet and I did look it up to see it needed to be hyphenated and most of the ones I found there was no hyphen, but yes they dinged me for all of them and put hyphens in them, oh well lesson learned lol

Is it just me, are are there a lot of duplicate audio tracks in the hits that are currently up? I keep returning hits that contain audio tracks that I have already heard in case I start to get rejections, but I am not sure if it is necessary.

I had this yesterday, I usually accept in batches of 10 - 20 depending on length and yesterday I had 3 different instances where I'd get a repeat of the exact same transcription I'd just done a minute or two before.

I try to do the same, when I do SI work (not often anymore).

I always figured the inspector was just having to say it multiple times. After all, some people do paint the walls white in every one of their rooms, for example. So I'd copy that phrase and paste it into the next one that came up with the same words. Makes it a little quicker. :)

It's annoying that the bonus program just stopped without explanation after that experiment with the mini batched hits.

They don't seem to be responding to any emails either.

I emailed several days ago about a completely ignorant review where my audio file said 'Door, door frame -' as in the door AND the door frame and the reviewer changed it to read '2 doors blahblah' -smh-

Also asked in the email if the bonus program had been halted and no response. Last time I mailed them some time ago they literally got right back to me. I guess those days are gone.

Without the bonus program, my balance seems to be increasing at a very slow rate when I am doing these hits. What is everyone averaging per hour on these?

I used to accept 25 hits at once and normally get them completed within 15 minutes, giving my $4 per hour + the bonus. SpeechInk’s servers seem to be loading ridiculously slow these days, however, and I am now scared to calculate an exact hourly wage. I have now started trying to do hits from other requestors while waiting for the audio to load.

BTW if you haven’t already set up hot keys on your computer for these hits, I highly recommend it. I have hot keys set up for all the regularly used phrases, such as “good condition”, “painted white”, “has been handed over in a clean and tidy condition”, “wall-mounted”, “ceiling-mounted”, “stainless steel”, etc. It takes a while to memorize all of the shortcuts, but once you know them, you can complete the hits much quicker, as well as save your fingers.

I can't even calculate it because it takes so long to load now, like you said. Bumming me out. Haven't responded to any of my e-mails either. I live kinda near their office address, I should drive on over and demand answers! Lol.
