I was just about done with a survey, when it started demanding the sort of information that sounds like credit card account security questions. Stuff like "where did you go to school? What year did you graduate?" Which weirded me out even more than usual, because the survey had been about financial stuff-- asking things like 'how much debt is on your credit cards' and 'what's your FICA score.' I'm not applying for a job with these assholes, so I can't see they have a need for information that specific, except possibly to hack into my accounts and rob me. I've run across this sort of shit at least half a dozen times over the last few months, and threw the survey back every time. Am I being paranoid?
Not at all! Always protect your information. Identity theft isn't fun to deal with. They aren't allowed to ask those questions. I'd report them just to feel better even if it doesn't do anything.
I have a standard made up persona for these instances. So that if it is longitudinal or for whatever reason it's the same every time. If they are going to ask this kind of thing at the end of a survey there is no goddamn way I am not getting paid.
