Alright admit it... who else was an MTurk skeptic?

    For the past 4 or 5 years I had tried everything I could think of to make some extra cash online. I tried affiliate marketing, article writing for places like associated content and squidoo, blogging, etc. None of it worked for me. I made a few dollars from associated content, but found that the pay rate was way too low for a completely original article and churning out enough to make more than $10-20 per week was next to impossible for me.

    So when I heard about Mturk I was extremely skeptical about how much money could be made. I had tried everything else, so I decided to just sign up anyway... then when I started browsing through the hits I became even more skeptical. I knew I could make a little money, but thought I'd be lucky to make more than $5 in a day with all the 2 or 3 cent jobs I was seeing.

    I gave it a shot anyway, and for the first 2-4 weeks made very, very little. In my first full month I made something like $85. At that point I did some googling to see what information I could find, and came across a blog post with some really nice tips. I took these tips and was able to at least get myself to where I could regularly make more than $5 in a day, and hit $10 a few times.

    Luckily I finally came across this forum and saw how certain posters were consistently having $100+ weeks. It's amazing to me how much information I've found here and how my earnings have increased by picking up little tips and tricks from people. When I first started out I never thought I'd be having $30+ days like I have lately. Now I'm really optimistic as from what I understand this time of year is kind of the "dry season" for turking.

    :::raises hand:::

    I was very skeptical. After completing my first HIT, I was shocked. Somebody had paid me for working online. Fast forward a year, and I've gone from making a few dollars a day to my all-time high of $60 in one day. I'm hooked.

    Don't get me wrong, those $60 days are RARE, and I worked about 10 hours to make that. Again, just for the cheap seats, it is extremely difficult to make good money on mturk. It takes a lot of patience and hard work to do it.

    All I'm saying is that I'm no longer a skeptic.

    Yep I was skeptical also but figured it was worth a shot especially when sales on Ebay got so slow. And while the pay per hour isn't that great, I figure I'm not spending gas money, wear and tear on my car for a regular job, having to buy any special clothing and when I get tired of staring at the screen I am free to go sit on the porch or do house chores or whatever. That makes up for the lower per hour earnings for me. I am kind of surprised with all the HITS posted this morning that for me at least, there really aren't that many "new" ones so there must be a lot of penny type HITs on there this morning. Carpal tunnel doesn't let me do a whole lot of repeat clicking so I don't do them too often, lol...

    I was a little skeptical, but I had done some microtask jobs before. I definitely make more on MTurk, mostly because it is easier to weed out the scams and bad requesters thanks to the awesome people who wrote all of those scripts!

    I also have to credit the wonderful people of this board who are so welcoming have such great advice (not so much the other board, which I'm terrified to post to on account of all of the "DO ANY OF THESE THOUSAND THINGS AND YOU WILL BE LAUGHED AT AND PERMABANNED" warnings posted everywhere o_O).

    I've made about $70 in 2.5 weeks (not including about $30 pending approval... fingers crossed). I work evenings during the week, and for 8-12 hours (total) over the weekend. The first time I withdrew money I had kind of a twilight zone moment where I realized I really was getting paid to do all of the interesting, and sometimes silly, tasks I did during the first 10 days - haha
