This really really REALLY needs to be improved. I don't know what they are but they suck. Im coming from a requesters point of view and it really has to change otherwise Mturk is going to fail.

Im sick and tired of workers reporting HITS because you didn't approve them because they didn't do it properly. Ive had 3 accounts banned because angry workers report the HIT because they didn't get approved. This is what going to kill MTurk in the long run.

Im an honest requester and usually just ask simple things such as a sign up for 0.25 or so, or maybe a 0.10 vote and have clear instructions. I even number them like micro workers does :) Im as clear as I can possibly be and id say about 95% of people do it correctly. But theres always that 5% that doesnt do it right so I don't approve it, Then either get bombarded with angry emails or get reported. Or both. Its ridiculous. So to workers, please stop this as it doesnt really help you out and if the requester reports you back on a false accusation you can ( and most likely will) get banned. No one wins in the end and I'm pretty sure false reports are against the Terms of Service. So lets all work together and make MTurk even better!!

    Cheers all!!

0.25 signup? Are you asking people to sign up on other sites? That's against the TOS, and your HITs deserve to be reported.

0.10 vote? Are you asking people to vote on things on other sites? That's against the TOS, and your HITs deserve to be reported.

Well, based on what you posted, you appear to be trying to publish HITs that require the worker to register at a site or vote for something. Both of those types of HITs are prohibited by Amazon's TOS.

    >HITs requiring registration at another website or group.
    >HITs that directly or indirectly promote a site, service, or opinion.

Asking a worker to sign up on third party site is a clear violation of mTurks Terms and condition. No wonder, your account was banned.

    Please check:

HITs requiring registration at another website or group

In the future, if you're unsure whether or not your proposed HIT violates the TOS, come here and ask. It does not seem like it's the worker's fault that you're consistently banned.

Become familiar with how the system works instead of lashing out at the wrong people.

    Couldn't have said it better.

You're not being banned because of 'bogus' worker reports. You're being banned because you are VIOLATING TOS. Simple.

Sometimes it makes you wonder if the workers are reading the TOS. (sigh) NO it IS NOT against TOS to post for sign up. It is against TOS to post for sign up using REAL INFO. Real Info is against the TOS for privacy purposes. Unless the requester is requesting real info it is perfectly binding with the TOS and fraudulent reports are obviously being generated. I am both a requester and a worker and i have to say workers abuse the system. Don't like the HIT? Then don t accept it!!!!!!

You Obviously didn't read the TOS did you? TOS states that personal information may not be requested however you can use a fake email address. If the requester requests "real" information then yes that violates TOS however I have done requests for this requester and not once has she requested real information.

10 cents a vote?? I do all her vote requests. They are mostly on photo contests and for 10 cents a vote why not??? Im sure most mturkers here like myself do a lot more for a freaking PENNY then that.

How many accounts are you going to make to make your own point? =)

It's "than that", not "then that"...just sayin.

    From the link above:

What are some specific examples of HITs that violate Amazon Mechanical Turk policies?
HITs requiring disclosure of the Worker's identity or e-mail address, either directly or indirectly
HITs requiring registration at another website or group
HITs that directly or indirectly promote a site, service, or opinion
HITs that violate the terms and conditions of an activity or website (for instance asking Workers to vote for something)
HITs that have explicit or offensive content, for instance, nudity, but do not have the Adult Content Qualification
HITs asking Workers to solicit third parties
HITs that generate "referred" site visits or click-through traffic
HITs that ask Workers to take action to manipulate a website's behavior or results
HITs that violate intellectual property rights of any party
HITs that require Workers to download software

Now, if one of those does not apply to this situation -- please reach back and remove the wadded panties. They're all possible violations regarding the situation you first stated.

Oh, and I have gladly enabled requesters to violate TOS by giving my personal information to them (CastingWords and SpeechInk).

Suck on that for a while =)

It is a definite flaw in the system but if a big corp like Amazon can't catch it then C'est la vie. As you mentioned just make a new account and realize you are going to deal with stupid un educated people ( ahem poster above) like you will in any workforce. Mturk is a place of employment although unofficial. You'll deal with good and bad as with any job. Suck It up or leave.

Whimsy...you are exactly the workers I disapprove. You Give your personal info???? Im sorry but who is dumb enough to do that on a site like murk?? I think you need to do a bit of reading on internet safety before you participate on sites like MTurk. Trust me your financial security depends on it.

Isn't it great when you make a lot of One Post Wonder accounts to agree with you?

Congratulations. You've pissed me off enough to find your HITs and post about how you're abusing the system on the sites you're affecting with this. And I'll do that for free.

How did I miss this gem of a thread before now? I was reaching for the popcorn!

My first thought was the OP was taking the michael, since it seemed like a clever parody!

I also seek out TOS abusers to review and report them. Like the idiot wanting 5k+ hits done for zilch reward!

Is that against TOS? Offering tasks without compensation? Didn't think it was.

LOL WOW. Blatant disregard of TOS, and then complaining about the WORKERS? Chick, get a real job. If you produced something valuable, you wouldn't have to PAY people to love it.

It's black hat marketing strategies like these that caused the downfall of writing HITs by trying to cheat Google.

Some of those HITs are meant for specific workers that will be paid by bonus. Some are for students whose teachers use the site for hands-on work. Others are just plain idiots. Nonetheless, they don't violate TOS, and reporting ALL of them could cause the banning of and scare away potential future requesters that DON'T ask for personal info. Although I agree, some dillholes need a swift kick to the balls.

And yes, there are some REPUTABLE requesters that I will share personal info with, if and only if I have worked with them before and can get current, actual feedback from others about them. This psycho broad, however, is not one of them.
