They used to be quite a bit better, at least for me. The writing/editing HITs could get you anywhere from $10-30/hour if you were good/fast enough. They will drop your credibility quick for their HITs, though, if you just enter in gibberish. The recent Reference.com HITs were nowhere near the old money possibilities, though.
I've been doing these in batches of ~70 an hour, for the past few days before I take a break from it boring me to tears, but the money is good and the approval rating is excellent, guess they like my work. About $15 an hour isn't too bad.
I'm 100 approved hits away from being able to do this, let's hope some of my 400 pending get approved soon
Um, so I know they're almost all about Apple, right? Can they find some that aren't so... literal?! Seriously. Two articles so far have been about actual apples. And I'm only on my 3rd HIT this batch. Last time, one of my keywords was Brother... and I was getting articles about twin brothers and brotherly love.
how do you guys turn em up so fast? do you just put some random sentence or actually read the whole article?
I ctrl+f to find the keyword and "Highlight All" so I can see every instance of the word. Like somebody said before, you can usually get the general sentiment from the first and/or last sentence, and if not, you can see everywhere the brand is mentioned by highlighting. I think people overthink it too much - for 7c/each, they get about 30 seconds worth of thought outta me. If it's neutral, I just pick whatever sentence has the keyword in it. If it's not relevent (i.e. the fucking APPLES) I mark neutral & paste whatever the fuck I feel, and leave feedback for that article.
I just skim it really fast, the position of most are pretty obvious at first glance (also looking at the title/link are a great help)
PRO TIP: Look near the end/beginning of the article. This is where the author usually expresses sentiment - he adds conjecture or uses some sort of personal quote. If not, it remains neutral. I don't think anyone should be complaining about these HITs, considering it's from CS. It's like a breath of fresh ass... woops I mean, a breast of fresh air.
For the first few I did, I read the whole article and I was pretty slow. Now, I do like others. I skim the first and last paragraphs because that's where I usually find the sentiment. I spend about 1 minute 30 seconds on each HIT (30 seconds per link). I can't spend any more time on them without falling below minimum wage.
Does anyone else get as frustrated as I do with all the Kontera ads on the linked webpages? I find that when I am copying, the ads slow me down.
Yep, suuuuuper boring. I can't complain though because if you actually maintain your focus and put in some effort you're getting a pretty good pay rate. If there is anything else decent to do, I'll do that. But I'm glad there are still tons of these left, because they really are good and reliable if you can't find anything else worth your time.
Yeah, I'm glad they're around for when the other stuff gets gobbled up. Although they take me longer than they take some other people. I guess if they tell you the trick to highlighting the brand keyword right there in the instructions they expect a certain, controlled amount of skimming to transpire to keep the wage at least 5 or 6 $ an hour? Coz right now, I'm reading every. single. word, and no matter how fast I read I don't think I'm getting above $3 an hour on these.(and I'm usually a pretty fast reader.)
Pro Tip For faster page loads, consider disabling images and Flash. Here's how to do this in Chrome. (I'm too lazy to write up instructions for other browsers right now.) Disable Images (in Chrome): Click the wrench and click "Settings", or go to: chrome://chrome/settings/ - Click: "Show advanced settings" - Click: "Content settings" - Under "Images" click: "Do not show any images" - Under "Images" click:: "Manage exceptions" - Add: mturk.com - Add: www.mturk.com - Add: mturkforum.com - Add: www.mturkforum.com - Click "OK" - Click "OK" Disable Flash (in Chrome): Go to: about:plugins or: chrome://plugins/ - Press Ctrl-F (or Command-F on Mac) and search for: Flash - Disable the Flash plugin. (The Flash plugin listing should turn gray.) - Optionally, disable any other plugins that you don't need. When you stop working on Sentiment HITs, remember to re-enable images and Flash.
