This requester wants 30 seconds of an interview transcribed for no compensation. But he will greatly appreciate it. That's awesome. I'm sure when my bills come, I can just tell the utility company that I won't pay for their service, but I really appreciate using it. Granted it's only 30 seconds. I have transcribed 30 seconds of a voicemail message before. It took me about 5 minutes, and I was paid a nickel. Any requester can ask people to work for free and any worker can accept the job. What irritates me is that these requesters expect someone else to do a task for free, that apparently even they will not do. If I'm going to volunteer 30 seconds of my time; I'm going to make a difference. Here are some things you can do, for free that someone would greatly appreciate and most of these things take no longer than 30 seconds: Hold a door open for someone. Put your shopping cart where it belongs when you're through. Take the garbage out for your wife, without being asked. Ask your elderly neighbor if she needs anything from the store before you go for yourself. Feed the dog Put the seat down. Be on time. Obey your parents. Tell your kids how much they mean to you. Now that I'm done venting, I think I'll find something productive to do.
The solution is simple Shego. Simply avoid such hits. I don't waste my time checking the instructions of such hits.
Their pay rate is $0.00? I tried to make a HIT (just to see if it would work) for $0.00 but it wouldn't let me.
I've also seen HITs that pay $0.00, though they're very few in numbers. I can't understand how they expect people to work for them for $0.00 but there must be some out there, otherwise such HITs would not have survived till now (I'm seeing such HITs since I've been turking, which is more than a year now). You too can easily see them by changing your settings to view HITs with Reward Amount (least first). BTW, right now I can see some HITs by Bryce Benton for composing Haiku and transcribing 30 sec/1 minute audio clip for $0.00. But what surprises me more is that he wants only such Workers whose HIT approval rate (%) is not less than 85 (for transcribing HITs) or 90 (for Haiku HITs)!!! I also never check the details of such HITs (however I checked out the above ones just now, but that's exceptional, I did it only to get idea on this particular topic) since I find no reason or mo tivation to work on such HITs offering me $0.00.
I thought maybe there was a bonus offered instead of a pay per hit--you never know. Also, I thought it may have been an oversight. JF, please stop using white. Nobody can see it.
I can't understand why you people hate white color. I'm aware that some may find this cheap, but I don't care because I'm doing it since I like the white color and am very much against color discrimination. I've used black and various colors for quite a long time (you can see that in my earlier posts as in this one. For that very reason, I've used different colors in my signature, so each post of mine has different colors included in it!!!), now I've decided to use white for a while. So please don't create an issue of this. Sooner or later, I'll use some other color. Till then, please have patience and enjoy the season of white!!!
As the basic color of this site is white, I won't be able to see any of your texts unless I 'highlight' them. I won't keep doing that, so I will miss your comment from now on. Then again, witnessing your average comment, I doubt I will be missing much.
Even though this is keeping this thread off-topic, there is a 'Quick Style Chooser' on the bottom of each page, to make the style Green or Dark. Or you can go to 'User CP' -> 'Settings & Options' --> 'Edit Options'. then at the bottom in the 'Miscellaneous Options' section it's there as Forum Skin. The Dark skin makes white the easiest to read, makes other dark colors hard, and it saves electricity especially if using a CRT Monitor. (Maybe if everybody uses Dark, JF will have no other choice but to use a dark color to incite comments.)
