I noticed that my current earnings will go up when a requester pays, but my current balance (amount available to cash-out) will not go up at the same time. Is this only updated one time though-out the day?
After a requester approves your HIT, it is applied to your earnings but the actual payment is still pending. It doesn't show up in your balance until the HIT shows as "Paid" on your dashboard. How long that takes depends on the requester. It can take up to a few hours to actually show up in your balance.

It's usually twice a day, though. I know from my own personal experience, all hits I do from whenever I wake up until noon CST will be paid so I can withdraw at 4:00 CST, which for some reason, is the cut off for me to get the money next-day.
