Okay, so I am really new at this and I did download TO and have it running. Today I did a HIT for "John Crane" (who had no reviews yet) for a whopping 60 cents. I completed the HIT with correct and valid info. I copied and pasted the url. I waited for "immediate payment" . I got immediate REJECTION (only my second one since I started). The reason stated is "Sorry you have already completed the offer once, please try again later." Which is totally not true! I did submit a review thru TO so everyone else will know he is just gathering info and not paying out. Is there anything else I can do? I did message him explaining (nicely) that this was definitely the first time I did this HIT (never did any work for him before - I keep track on a spreadsheet). Any other suggestions? At this point it is not the 60 cents. It is the fact that the rejection counts against me. Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh!

I'm sorry! Those rejections really hurt at first!

You've really done all you can do at this point. Just keep fingers crossed that he'll reply to your message and reverse the rejection.
And, make sure you update your TO review regarding his communication (give him a couple of days).

There are bad requesters, then there are good requesters who make mistakes. Let's hope it's the latter.

I suggest you do some Redwood, Crowdsource, or Oscar Smith HITs to get your approval rating back up.

All very quick HITs, all approve very fast, and the best thing is that if your work isn't up to their standards, they will just block you from their HITs before they reject you (as I understand)

    Good luck!

What kind of HIT was it? Did you have to sign up for something?

Thanks for the advice! Thankfully my approval rate is still above 99% but you are right, they do hurt (which is ridiculous - I know!).

It was a car insurance request info form. So, yeah, I figure he got paid for me filling it out but then turned around and said I completed the task twice (NOT!). I will not be doing that again!

It's really not ridiculous at all! My ex-roommate and I both confided in each other once that our first rejections made us feel like we'd failed at life! ha

(Ok I admit, this "confiding" occured after a whole lot of wine... but still... )

Don't ever do HITs that require you to sign up for anything or ask for your personal info. They are a violation of mTurk TOS and 9 times out of 10 you won't get paid (and they have your personal info for whatever they want).

Is there a way to report it as a violation of the TOS and get the rejection removed from my account?

The time to report is before you or someone else takes the HIT . Best to be quiet and take your lumps. 99% is excellent approval rate and 60c is not life changing money.

You can mark it as TOS on TO, you could report it to Amazon, but at this point neither of those does any good. Most of these TOS violators just sign up under a new name next time. Thankfully, one rejection is not going to damage your reputation. And you learned an important lesson for the future. You're not the first and not the last to be duped and screwed, so don't feel too bad.
