This was a nice hit where we were presented with Maths problems. It was fun to calculate mean, average, speed etc after a long time. They paid $0.08 or $.10 for each correct answer at the start and later on reduced this amount to $.05. I was wondering whether anyone attempted this hit and got paid?
I did that as well but it told me that I "did not fit their target profile" after I entered truthfully that I am a physics graduate student ... haha
You know the economy is in bad shape when a physics graduate is working on mturk I hate math and am no good at it. I can count money though
If that is how you feel I am better off not revealing my qualification. The questions in this hit were easy and you would have surely passed with flying colors, I don't have any doubt about that.
Thanks for the vote of confidence As soon as I see the word "math" in a HIT, I won't even look at it...lol It's a good thing I can write halfway decently or I'd be in trouble
Haha ... nah ... I normally run simulations that take about a few minutes to complete so I just turk in between getting my simulation results .. Yup but yes, I do agree that the poor economy has led to an increase in the number of Turkers and a corresponding decrease in the number of HITs each of us manage to get to work on.
There was one problem in this experiment which I got wrong. That problem, word to word as was given in the experiment, is: A man can hit a target once in 4 shots. If he fires 4 shots in succession, what is the probability that he will hit his target? I don't remember all the options given for the answer, but I chose the one as the answer which equaled nearest to 0.25, which I was informed was wrong. The correct answer was 175/256. I'll be thankful if anyone here can explain me how. I don't care What's Eating Gilbert Grape but this one has been eating me since quite long, so I finally decided to shoot it here and see if anyone can help.
It takes between a week to five weeks for the check to reach India after they send you a confirmation email.
