I wouldn't worry about it unless you're getting paid in sweaty dollar bills. :p

Shout out to Taylor for communicating and working to fix the issue. Although many turkers are leery and have been burned, it goes to show we should not jump to conclusions until we exhaust all courses of action :)

@taylor, I love requesters who communicate! I'll be trying out your hits when I get home hopefully they don't disappear. I'm glad you're honest. I hope you get to be on my "requesters that I'm secretly married to but they don't know it" list! :D

Thanks! I still have quite a few HITs left.

And I need my positive ratings (on turkopticon) to make up for the negative one.

Taylor, I have been at work all day. I thank you for coming here and rectifying the situation. I have not logged into mTurk yet, so I will check to see if the reversals have happened.

I promise, I wasn't trying to be a bitch yesterday, it's just really shitty to have good work rejected and then be told "oh well"

Just logged into mTurk, they have in fact been reversed.

    Thank you.

I really wasn't trying to be dismissive...

I actually didn't see a way to reverse it w/o working with the API. Amazon doesn't provide a way for requesters to reverse through a GUI. When I looked through the top couple Google results, nothing looked promising.

To be honest, I didn't think of paying via bonus until I saw this thread.

I do think it was a little knee jerk to post negative reviews on forums without giving ample time to resolve it. Also, it wasn't like it was 50+ HITs. It was 2 or a dime's worth of work. Hardly something to rant about.

Anyway, it's water under the bridge.

Taylor, thanks for coming here and working things out with us.

But when you say "It wasn't like it was 50+ hits. It was 2 ...," it tells us that you don't appreciate the damage even one single rejection can cause to a reputation and an approval rating. I have about 4000 hits, over a few years, mostly because I only do a very small range of specialized hits. 4 rejections would bring me down 0.1% and for some of us, that would mean access or not to some of the better tasks.

Personally, given the hits I do, it would take me up to 20 hours of work to make up for that one rejection. This is not something to be sneezed at...

It isn't merely a question of a few cents.

    And what about my reputation?

I don't have the history of 4000 HITs, so a negative review has way more impact on my long-term viability as a requester.

The reason I ranted/knee jerked/whatever is, it easily could have been much more work, many people work on hits in large batches, I myself almost did a couple hundred but stopped to test you, test failed. Retest passed. Sorry to be a headache, but I'm just looking out for myself and the other turkers here.

Also, I don't have a lot of HITs, those two rejections were almost a full percentage off my approval rating.

I have edited your review on TO, and if I can, I will change the title of this to remove the "avoid" part.

Taylor, it's a question of who has power. You have it, we don't. Our only recourse, seriously, is to post a negative review on TO. Or to send emails and hope they get answered. That and a couple of dollars might buy a cup of coffee...

Members here all know of rogue requesters who reject on whims, or quite consciously, just to get their hits done for free. There are a lot of them. They keep the results of the HIT and the worker gets mass-rejected.

This is the context and it ain't pretty.

Try searching Google with the pastor's name and the church name to find the website.

If the URL isn't popping up, put "**broken link**". In both input boxes.

I'll be sure to approve those, because they help me clean my list.

    Thanks, good question!

On the same note, I do really reccommend as I mentioned in my email to you a comment box within the HIT.

That way we are able to note to you situations like the link you provided being incorrect, or anything we think would be relevant to you based on what the HIT is.

I know when I did mine, I returned three which I likely would have still turned in if I were able to explain why I had trouble with them. And one of the two I DID turn in, the URL you provided had two letters out of order, so while I did find the pastors email, I had no way of noting the correct URL.

Another instance, I just did another, where the pastor you have listed is not at that church, it is a new pastor, so I gave the current pastor's email, but it will not match with the one you have listed.

I was just coming to ask this same question! Well, I did get around the broken link but didn't know that you wanted us to put "broken link" in both input boxes!

Also, I was just wondering, I think I have only done about 5 of your HITs but I have noticed that I am putting "no platform" on the second input box more than a link...Is this normal or am I just not seeing it on their site? I pretty much click through every link on the site to check but it is usually not there. If we click through every available option on the site and do not find a email for the pastor, do you just want us to return the HIT or to type that in the first input box. I have returned several because they didn't even give a info@whateverchurch. The one I just returned had a form to fill out to email the church but did not give an address.

    Welcome! Taylor Brooks.

    Hey Taylor!

Great to see you here! It's always mutually beneficial to have a direct line of communication with requesters!

I checked your TO rating and there are only two reviews but you are all in the green with high marks... Most people don't go in and read the actual review and their titles if the requester is in the green so you should be golden when workers are looking at your HITs!

I wish I wasn't about to hit the bed or I'd do some of these! Hopefully you'll have more later on!

Thanks again for stopping in! Very glad your here!

    G'Nite!

It's probably pretty normal. I usually do a Google site search for keywords like 'give', 'giving', 'tithe', etc.

Ex: "site:austincitylife.org give" returns the giving page as the first result in Google.

The email address is the most important thing. I wouldn't spend more than 2 minutes searching for the giving page -- most probably don't have it.
