Has anyone ever tried this? I have a feeling this could work on some of the more basic yes or no HITs, as well as maybe CrowdSource. It might be annoying working on such a small screen, and you might have IP address issues though. Tell me what you think.
Working on an Android tablet is a challenge with the browser. Most HITs can't be done due to the browser's limitations. Some HITs seem OK, but some of the buttons are offset from the label and then it becomes a button hunt game. So I only work on a few simple ones and do most of the work on my laptop.
I didn't think about that before, your right. And if it's hard on a tablet, it must be even harder on a phone. I do avoid some issues with 3rd party browsers, but then again, even they have their drawbacks.
I don't want to get too techie, but the design of web pages for different devices is very difficult and usually involves a lot of compromise like less features. Amazon would have to come up with a new page design for HITs catering to non standard devices and then requester's would be faced with the challenge of writing and testing for all the classes supported. That is not likely to happen. As we know, some HITs won't work on all browsers. Adding device classes to the mix just makes things untenable.
I've done 2 of TransTest's judge if this is a complete sentence HITs on my Galaxy S3, that's about it. It did work fine though.
I've done HITs that are simple like select an option type HITs but I can't imagine doing a survey, that would drive me crazy
I use my Android and anything that requires certain plugins does not work but the only real issue I have is the small screen. Some of the pages show up weird because of it, but using my phone comes in handy when I am waiting for the kids at the bus stop or am just sitting on the couch.
I haven't tried it personally, if you have an iPad, go ahead and try it and let us know. If you are thinking about getting one to turk on the go, I would avoid it because only simple HITs would work well.
