Im updating my TurkAlert now, so I will be able to help you guys without it out when good Batch hits get posted.
I seriously hate those CrowdSource hits. If they would make the text so that you could copy and paste it would be so much easier. Instead I have to flip back and forth trying to remember how to spell this ridiculously long name.
I usually open 2 windows and tile them horizontally so I can look at the name as I'm typing it into Google.
Yeah I should really do that. I'm on my Macbook Air, so screen space is somewhat limited. I should do those on my desktop.
I always wondered why you cant copy and paste. May I suggest sizing the windows so you can have a window for the HIT and a window for the search on the same screen? I also recommend using copy and paste keyboard shortcuts. (Ctrl/Cmd C and Ctrl/Cmd V) (Ctrl=Windows, Cmd=Mac) EDIT: cattcali209 beat me to the windows.
I open up a whole new browser window, and put the hit on the left half of my screen and google on the right. Those hits take only about a minute if you do it that way. Edit: nevermind, I'm not quick enough for you people. GEEZ
Oh yeah, most definitely on the keyboard shortcuts. I couldn't survive without those. The tiling is just a little hard on a 13" screen. :/
Honestly, for $0.16 they are pretty damn good! Typing skills and memory definitely make them more profitable. But they don't reject them and they get your numbers up! I can do those HITs at about 1 minute a piece when I get in the groove, that's $9.60 an hour. Not bad for Turking!
Usually the 'base' name I only need to write once, then it's saved in my browser's auto-complete, and I just need to add the additional words. Too bad I maxed out on those. They allow me around 2 HITs every 5 days or so.
I can type nice and fast, I just plain dislike these HITs. Not my style, theres too much back and forth going on.
Yeah I dont know what the deal is with those. I would be doing them a lot, but they limit me to a few a week. Is anyone here approved to do as many as they want?
The most I have ever done is 10 at a time, before I gave up. I have never seemed to reach a limit on them, but I barely ever do them.
Answer a survey about interesting, real photographs of people. Requester: Social Perception Lab Reward: $0.60 per HIT HITs Available: 1 Duration: 60 minutes Qualifications Required: Total approved HITs is greater than 1000, HIT approval rate (%) is not less than 95, Location is US ugh, I feel like this is taking forever probably not worth it...
If I can make it out, then yes. If I can't then no. If it is missing brackets, or has an extra x, I usually mark it as well. [xx] means unintelligible. It can't be made out.
Only if I think the word is actually transcribable and it's easily understandable. Otherwise I leave it in.
I used to work full time as a transcriber. It was always marked as a mistake if the person reviewing could understand a word, even if you couldn't. That being said, yes, I mark it wrong if I can understand it. I've never had a reject from them for doing it this way.
