Hi Carolee and welcome! First thing you need is patience and lots of it. I've been working MTurk for over 18 months and now make a reasonable part time income but it took me a lot of time to build good relationships with some of the requesters. There will be days when you get frustrated but just try to shrug it off. I can't tell you which requesters to work for...I don't know what kind of work you want. You just have to go to the HIT list and go through the available work and try out some different types of HITs and for different requesters. My second suggestion is don't put all your eggs in one basket. There are bad requesters just like there are bad workers. Because you are just starting out it won't take very many rejected jobs to drop your approval percentage down. You need to try to keep your approval rating above 95%. If you drop below that you will have a lot less work to choose from. You need to click "all" on the hits list because some requesters have tests and/or other types of qualifications you have to fulfill before you do their jobs. Don't be scared to do those and, if you aren't sure, contact the requester and ask questions. Here is the link to another forum that has a Hall of Fame/Shame so to speak. You can research the different requesters there and find out if they are going to be good to work for or not. Welcome Welcome to MTurk, its a great place to make a little extra pocket change or if you are unemployed (like me) its a good way to at least get some cash flowing. All good advise listed so far the only thing I want to do is stress to not get discouraged, don't let a rejected hit get you down, and work for a variety of requestors. Its important to work on as many hits as you can now because the more hits you do, usually the more will be available to you. It's also good to go to the "qualifications" page and do as many tests on there as you can. Its easy to get discouraged on Turk, whether its because you got a rejected HIT or because all you see is .1 or .5 cent hits. Stick to it and I think you'll find it rewarding and at times fun.
