What advice have you actually given? All I've seen from you is "You're not doing it correctly", "you have lack of drive and imagination," "You're not being creative," "You're not trying hard enough." LMAO, yes... wise words of wisdom... Try giving some actual advice to help those who want to optimize their mturk experience. You're funny, what a joke.

I'm honestly in awe @ the amount of hits some of you are completing. I'm a college student that has a job and just does this for extra cash on the side.

I do about 15 hits a day, which doesn't take long, and I avg about $20 a week. That's good for me and my situation...I refuse to be in front a computer for the majority of my day.

    Making the money

You can't make more than $2500 per year here. If you say you are, you are full of shit. There just aren't enough HITs out there qualified or not. There are no HITs that get you $20 per hour. You must not be taking into account the time spent looking for the HIT and the time spent analyzing what you are making for the HIT.

I recommend breaking up your HIT to 10min with .75-1 compensation if you want your HIT to be done right with full attention (US HITS). Anything beyond that is asking for 'just get through this HIT' results.

Actually now that I think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if JustMaketheMoney is using some sort of automated process to complete so many HITs. He's completing over 1000 HITs a day? I can barely complete 100 HITs a day, something doesn't feel right with this guy.

First off: She, not he, thank you.

    1) If I were using a bot, don't you think requesters and amazon would've figured that out by now? I actually *did* have a ban from a requester because they saw the number of HITS I was doing and thought I must have been a bot. I contacted Amazon, and they basically dismissed the claim. (It also didn't hurt that one of my favorite requesters was helping me with another unrelated issue I was experiencing at the time.)

"You must not be taking into account the time spent looking for the HIT and the time spent analyzing what you are making for the HIT."

    2) I front-loaded the research. I don't do research now, I've figured out which HITS are the profitable ones for me. I have e-mail alerts for certain requesters (or some even e-mail me themselves before they post HITS). I have a ranked list of which HITS to do, and those are the ones I do. I don't sit around hunting for HITS. If there's nothing up worth doing, I don't work.

"You can't make more than $2500 per year here. If you say you are, you are full of shit. There just aren't enough HITs out there qualified or not."

    3) Then there's more than one of us on the board who are just outright liars. Even assuming your assumption of there aren't enough HITS is true (which it's not)..you're leaving out factors like bonuses. For instance, one requester pays me 2x the listed rate for any HIT that I complete (they also e-mail me beforehand and tell me they're going to list HITS). Turning a 30-second 5 cent HIT into a 30 second 10 cent HIT? I'll do those all day long.

I make more than $2500 per annum on mTurk.

If you pick your HITs from page 1 of "HITs Available To You" or "All HITs" then I agree, you will not be making a lot of money. The batches with thousands of HITs available are almost always underpriced. Those Page 1 HITs are usually the pages no one wants. You have to dig deeper.

Waiting around on a forum for someone to post good HITs will not help either. By the time someone posts (if they post at all), the good HITs are gone. Large, well-paying projects available to the masses (think 'r0hzitod') are few and far-between.

If you want to bump up your income level, I suggest looking at Turk Alert (http://www.turkalert.com/). That site even posts a list of the top 10 most watched requesters and it is available to everyone. If you aren’t qualified to work for those 10 requesters, get qualified. Then get email alerts from those guys (with the exception of #8 - Dolores Labs) and you will always know when the good work is up.

The reason I say not to get alerts from Dolores Labs is that they spam the boards all day long and you waste your daily allowance of alerts. They always have HITs up; who needs an email alert saying "Dolores Labs posted HITs"? :p

I also like to watch the new hits display on Turk Alert that refreshes every 2 minutes. You can stumble on some good new requesters that way.

My Turk Alert watchlist has 9 requesters in it. Some have less that 10 followers. No, I am not sharing those - that would be less work for me. It would be like giving you a fish instead of teaching you to fish.

A new Turker will certainly not be making good money when first starting out. With perseverence, you can build up a good collection of trusted requesters and better paying HITs.

Another good site for all Turkers is Turkopticon (http://turkopticon.differenceengines.com/).

Set up an account there and you will be able to search for reviews from other Turkers. You can search by name (example: "Hellen Shurmer") or requester ID (example: "A26LHZWFMJ0LOB") and see reviews other people have left.

You can also just watch the "Recent Reviews" page and see the recent action.

Turkopticon is also a great place to get requester IDs that you can plug into your watchlist on Turk Alert.

    Really?

Yeah, so like let's say you are doing those 1000 hits per day. Let's say you are turking 10 hours a day straight. Then you would have to do 100 hits an hour, yeah? Ok, so even if you do your 1min = 20 cents hit times 60 min = $3.60 per hour, for 10 hours is $36 per day.

Who make a living off that? You'll be cripple b4 30.

That's one of my second-string HITS. I do those if my favorite requester isn't up.

And I rarely turk for 10 hours. It's more in the range of 5, but of course the more HITS I do, the longer it takes. For 1500 HITS, it's about 5 hours. The day I hit 3700...that was a long day- near 12.

Yes. That's a conservative estimate based upon my favorite requester. If I go full-tilt and the requester has enough HITS up, I can do double that in the same amount of time. Note that this *does not* take into account getting distracted, bathroom breaks, etc.

    Nope cant do it
I am not saying you cant
I am saying i cannot not
Like that one hit I put up. It pays .42 per level. after the 4th level my brains starts cooking
and all you have to do is look at faces and click on ones that repeat
