I just went to do some work and their authenticity cert is not valid. Unable to do any work for them. I sent them a message, and reported it to Amazon. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Where is it not valid...on their site? I ask because after I saw your post, I went and found I had no problems accepting one of their HITs.

It happens now and then that even Fortune 500 companies (of which I'm pretty sure SpeechInk is not, lol) let their certs expire. Your browser typically has a setting that will let you allow that to slide, either temporarily or permanently. Whether you do is up to you, but if it's just the date that's wrong...eh, I usually think that's just someone being careless.

On another note, SpeechInk appears to be having internal chaos lately, so it's not surprising that no one is minding little details like that.

This can also be caused by a problem with your internal clock, double check. (Mine would change when the power went out and it would think it was 2002 again)

Wow, that's how you are so familiar with all the problems created by the clock, lol :cool: You are the first one I've seen in this forum who linked the mturk timer issues to the internal clock :D

Don't they say goldfish are happy because they have no memories or sense of time?

Not, um, that you are a goldfish, happyfish.

Hope the OP figured it out. For my part, although I feel concerned about a lot of what SpeechInk seems to be doing lately, I'm just wanting to say that I was probably too quick to assume that the company had missed another detail. That was wrong of me. So thanks, happyfish, for mentioning this other possibility.

Going to leave my original post up, but only because what I mentioned sometimes could be the situation when these kinds of problems happen.

I get that at least 5 times a day in various websites. I don't usually care much about those. Just check 'remember my choice' and approve it.

    Hi, Russ,

Same thing as abrahamrohithroy posted above, actually. You can try to read the Technical Details by clicking those very words; more info should be revealed to you, and you can then decide what the problem is and whether you want to accept the certificate anyway. (It's a security certificate problem that you may end up deciding is OK after all.)

I use Opera. When I tried Redwood, i got a dialog similar to the one I posted above. Issue Fixed.

But it won't work the same way with other browsers. You need to set your PC clock to some date in Oct. The redwood certificate expired on Nov 1. So setting the clock to October will do the trick. It's not a sensible solution if you mess other things in your PC that need the date to be correct. But if you want to do Redwood badly, you can give it a try. :)

It actually does work in Firefox, too---I admit I don't have time to try at the moment, but I have gotten that dialogue many other times in Firefox. You click the words "Technical Details" at the bottom of Russ' screenshot, like I said, and you get a dialogue where you can choose to trust the cert anyway. The browser will also offer to remember this choice for the future.

So you do not have to change your system clock, not if you are running FFox.

I know Firefox has a similar error where you can fix it simply by clicking "Or you can add an exception" in the "Technical Details" section. I've done that many times too. But it's not showing up in the case of Redwood. Totally weird!!!

    You're right. That is weird!

I'll remember that I shouldn't post general knowledge before checking a specific computing instance. They're such funny things...:) Glad you were able to be much more helpful than I ended up being.
