OK, I'm doing these Casting Words hits where someone's giving instructions on how to use a computer program, and I've always had a question about this and I need it answered ASAP.

When someone says, "click on 'New tab'," or "go to 'Custom Styles'," or something like that, do I put quotes around the name of the command? Or do I just capitalize it? I've been using quotes (and capitalizing), and although I'm getting 9s on those hits, I'm wondering if I'm doing it right.

Or rather, I'm wondering what Casting Words thinks is really the right way.

Back in the day, I would have been on that other nameless forum, posting it under Casting Words, but I can't wait a hundred million years to get access to that subforum. I need an answer now.

To quote or not to quote

I would think that if you were throwing tons of quotes that didn't belong, the Editor would be annoyed right? If it's a "how-to" then I imagine you have lots of "New tab" and "Enter" and "New folder", etc... parts and they would have many quotes to remove. This is probably no help! Hopefully, it isn't affecting possible bonuses for you. Please post if you discover CastingWords' preference. Just my two cents. I do think that grammatically the quotes belong because capitalizing alone would limit it to a type of proper noun and Custom Settings isn't in the dictionary last I checked! So again, my opion, but I THINK it needs the quotes to identify it for what it is--a command. Aaaaand hopefully I didn't make an ass out of myself.

OK, well, when I went back and looked at the final editing of those hits, my quotes got left in there. So I guess that was right. I tried to only put quotes around it when he said something like, "Click on the 'Insert' tab," and not just when he said "insert."

Maybe this piece of info will help somebody else later.

Zinni, you better ask the requester by using the contact the requester option while you seeing the HITs from a particular requester. I have done this many times and I got right answers from Oscar Smith for the Card Hits available from him... So I am telling it from my experience. Hope that answers your question.
