I've been having a frustrating experience on my quest with the Top Tier. You can retake it unlimited times on write.com. If it's half decent they give you the e-commerce equal which isn't too bad. My mTurk equal for Top Tier was denied after 2 weeks. I've been calling Crowdsource to see what's up with my re-submission and it sounds like they are just swamped right now. Thanks for those tips and I hope I could help as well. They are super picky.

I'm an exceptional writer--when the subject matter is interesting to me. Otherwise I just cannot write about it with enthusiasm or in a timely manner if I have to research everything first. I wanted to try for the qualification but none of the titles interest me. I don't understand why we cant write about something we choose. Especially when we aren't being compensated for our time and effort. How do we know they aren't using those articles they aren't paying us for in order to "qualify."

Check back on different days on write.com...

I didn't like the topics so I checked back about once a week. I scored a great topic this morning.

The thing about the top-tier work is that the topics are very detailed and require research. I think they want to know how you will handle just that type of work. My advice is just choose one. There are many days on Crowdsource when the only articles available are golf and tax tips, neither of which I know anything about. If you want to make money on the current Crowdsource writing hits, you'll need to fit their mold.

I've had to join another forum to get real-time information from Crowdsource. Andy has tried to get them to engage us here, but they won't. On the other forum, CS posts tips and advice daily. Recently they said that they were experiencing delays in grading. If you have a delay over a week, you need to email them.

From CS: I want to apologize for the current backlog that we are experiencing with grading. This is due to an influx in writers and we are working diligently to fix this as soon as possible. I appreciate all of your hard work and will update you as soon as this has been cleared. Thank you so much!

Almost to the deadline. I have to finish this article and write one more and I will be done. How is everyone else doing?

I have a few topics I'm very educated about, which would make it worth my while if I only had to look up a couple of references. However, if I only have 2 hours to research AND write a 300-500 word article about something I know nothing about, especially with the specifics they require I wouldn't be able to turn out a good piece that I would be satisfied submitting. And ultimately even if they gave me more time, when I break it down it's no more money (hourly) than just doing batch hits which are a lot less aggravating. I think it's great that they're doing this and giving us a chance to make more money than most are paying for the written word. I cannot believe how cheap the pay is for writing articles from most Requestors. It's an insult when you consider they can reject it even though they're only paying $1.25 for a 600 word piece.

They give you 5 hours, but as you point out, that reduces your hourly wage. However, even with a completely unknown and technical topic, I generally only take about an hour and a half. At $11/article, that's nearly $8 an hour. Also, they don't reject. I had one article that they told me they weren't going to use and they still paid me. I think that if your scores go down, you could lose the qualification, but I haven't heard of anyone actually doing an article and not getting paid for it.

Thanks, Crayonshaver..good to know! I must be too hard on myself. I can't imagine it only taking an hour and a half--even with a topic I know well. I'll go over and over it til I drive myself crazy. I wish I could be that meticulous about my housework ;)

New Info from CS today: Good morning, Team!

I wanted to give you a quick update about the changes we have made concerning headings.

    Moving forward:
*Briefing, Dos and Don'ts, Subtopics, GoodNews/BadNews and Reviews will all use sentence case headings.
*Lists of Links and Lists will use title case.
    *Recipes don't have headings.

This should alleviation confusion for both writers and editors.

Any work submitted before today with the old rules will not be penalized. If you have any questions please let me know. Thank you!

Hehe I got the qualification yesterday and have written 19 articles so far. 18 are pending. 1 is approved. :) I've been out-of-work since graduation last May so I reckon that there's nothing wrong with pushing myself to write. I've been sticking mostly to topics I know about although I've done research here and there on topics that I didn't have firsthand knowledge of.

Their updating probably explains why my articles have suddenly stopping being approved with the snap of a finger. I reckon they will get back to approving & giving feedback to articles once they are done. Sounds reasonable, no?

Depends on what type of articles you are doing. The callouts usually approve quickly and I have a couple of the general product ones approved, but I still have a lot of briefing and step by step articles hanging out there. Those are taking a week to 10 days to approve. They are trying to approve more content graders and editors because of the backlog.

I just got this qual yesterday, I've picked out an article to write today and I've been sitting on it for an hour. My nerves won't let my fingers write. >.< Reading through this is reassuring, though, I just don't want to get this revoked when it took me two tries to get it in the first place. I'm definitely glad there's this thread.

Good luck, TurtleTape -- Writing isn't a race, especially for this long-term CS project. So, your slow and steady approach sounds like a winning strategy.

Congrats!!! This is my 12th day on MTurk, and I've had top tier for about a week. I will tell you that as you write more and more, the more comfortable you will become with it. I know it took me a long time to write my first few articles, but now I can get them done more quickly. I think I have gotten the hang of it. You can do it! :)
