I've done a links article and a list article that are pending, those are the only two 300 word ones I've done.

I am going for the bonus. I've written 12 so far this week with 8 still pending. I plan to write 3-4 more tonight.

I have 4 briefing articles pending right now. I had a do's and don'ts approve right away. I think it depends on the category, because they are offered to the graders by category type and I imagine there are more of some than others. I only do one a day - not trying for the bonus. Don't trust myself enough yet.

Yes, pretty much. As for the 'no reason to bother part', that's up to you. If you need a break from writing, it is good to do something that doesn't take long, is easy and APPROVES faster. The turnaround time should improve as they add more graders and editors, but there's a bottleneck still happening that hasn't cleared out yet. Doesn't seem to be getting worse, from what I've been reading.

Yeah it has to be getting better because they banned all new entries for the Top Tier Qual.

Oh. I hadn't noticed that. I see it now on the write.com website.

The test will reopen in approximately 2-4 weeks, once we have had time to train and provide adequate feedback to our new writers.

Wow. I didn't see that. I got my qualification on 1/11 and at that time there were around 500 Top Tier writers according to the Qualifications tab. Now there are well over 1000. That means there are over 500 of us newbies for them to scrutinize. No wonder they put a hold on for now.

Has anyone with a Top Tier Qual run into sudden issues with reviewing callouts? I did a ton of callout reviews over the past couple of days and all have been approved with no comment, yet when I try to do the current hits that are posted, it says I'm not eligible to do the hit. I feel pretty confident that I did a good job on them, so I'm hoping it isn't an intentional block. I emailed them, but haven't heard back yet. I can still do all the other hits without a problem, like the title reviews. Does anyone else have a similar problem?

A few days ago I couldn't do actual callouts for a while even though all of my previous callouts had been approved with no comments. I emailed them, and they finally told me I had been banned due to a few too many errors. However, they eventually lifted the ban after I thanked them for the feedback.

So far, I'm doing good with my actual callouts. I wish I could do more of them at once - they're a lot of fun and I'm a trivia freak so I can kick them out easily :)

They are starting to grade & approve the "Web Summary" hits from the other day. I just facepalmed myself big time for one of my entries - they approved it, but I accidentally referred to a famous man as a woman! Thank goodness these are anonymous because I feel like such an dumbass right now, lol.

I know what you mean about feeling dumb. I sometimes do too, especially with some of the comments...like I definitely should have known that rule!

I just was told I can't do more callouts for today. I did 2 yesterday and 2 today. Maybe I'm in a probationary period (or maybe it's the norm) since I didn't do too hot at first.

Still waiting an approval for like 15 articles though. I'd love to see my bank account go up soon, so hopefully...

I did a whopping 3 of the "Web Summary" hits and they rejected one. The reviewer said I used the identical wording from one of my other ones and that is just not true. I made sure I changed the wording. Emailed Crowdsource and will see what happens. I am a bit upset at this point. I specifically only did a couple to test the waters, so to speak, and they end up rejecting one for a bogus reason.

I did one of the web summary ones and it was approved, but they told me I did it wrong. It linked to a health website's page about asthma, was I wrong in thinking they wanted a summary of the website, not just the one page?

Question about receiving feedback...do you tend to get a lot of feedback in the beginning? I am not that familiar with AP style (more MLA honestly), and I have received quite a bit of feedback about not following AP style. Are they patient with you, especially in the beginning, or does CS figure they can find better writers elsewhere? I am kind of counting on this supplemental income, and I am unsure of myself (hoping I don't suck so badly I get banned). Just looking for some reassurance, I guess.

Check out the resources they have here:

    http://www.write.com/writing-resources-articles/

I'd say chill on the articles for a little while. I'd say do call-outs to fill in the time, but I've come across several articles today that were NOT done according to the style guide at all...and that's not going to help you become more comfortable with it.

If you don't mind me asking, what was it about AP they said you weren't quite getting?

Depends on what you mean by a lot - you have done quite of few articles in a small amount of time. I have only received feedback on 3 of 12 articles and one was very positive feedback from a reviewer. Unfortunately I am not having an issue with the AP style, one article just sucked - and after re-reading it I had to agree, and the other one they thought I added too much fluff, but gave some concrete info. on how to avoid it in the future. I always have the style guide open - always double checking things like numbers, punctuation, hyphens and things like that. Maybe that's why I am so slow....

My feedback was mostly about tense, a few commas rules, and too much fluff. I have been writing several articles today, and I've focused a lot on the feedback. I think/hope they are getting better! Of course, I would have to have articles edited/accepted to know for sure. I'm still waiting on 18 articles from this week and some from last week as well.
