My only advice is to not use the links provided, or the school websites. And to use google, and get creative with your wording so that you can the instructor. KEEP IN MIND on some of the odd ball courses, if you can only find a professor from years ago, the course may not be provided anymore. Or, it could have the same professor so they haven't had a reason to update the page.

If you rely on the school website you're not going to find squat for 80%. If all else fails, search for a Syllabus. Or find the name on ratemyteacher and then do another google search for "school + instructor name email. It is usually the very first result.

I bang these out in less than a minute. At first I was slow, but after I learned how to utilize google, it's been easy breezy.

If you have to reword them sometimes. Or go with the main subject. If it has something specific like "create data sheets" obviously there is not a course for that. However, if you look at the description of the computer science page, you can see that some courses have that listed in the description of things you learn in that class. CtrlF can save a lot of time with this. Just search for the keywords and whatever course teaches those things is the answer.

Here's an example, there is no such course called mobile apps. That was made up from the mobile app that a lot of schools are using now. However, the mobile app wasn't created in a class. This is a fuckup from the people who did the last rubin batch that was search for course names. So, the answer to these is obviously Web Application Development or something along those lines. Same course, different names. As long as in course description it teaches you to develop apps then it will work.

Ok, I have to get ready for class at my own university so here are some course catalogs that I found to be really helpful and easy to use:

    Northwestern:
http://www.registrar.northwestern.edu/courses/undergrad_catalog.html (Click on the college the class would be in and scroll through the catalog. Hint: Computer Science is in the Robert McCormick applied science)

    University of Pittsburgh:
    http://www.courses.as.pitt.edu/ (Super easy)

    Case Western Reserve:
    http://www.google.com/cse?cx=013802...b=0&gsc.q=course catalog computer engineering
(Go here and take out the words Computer Engineering and replace them with the words you need. It will bring you to a nice site that gives all the classes for that department.)

    University of Chicago:
http://collegecatalog.uchicago.edu/thecollege/azindex/ (Just click on the department you need and see if the class is listed.)

    CalTech:
http://catalog.caltech.edu/pdf/catalog_12_13.pdf (You are going to have to scroll through to find the department and class)

    Rochester Institute of Technology:
http://www.rit.edu/programs/ (Pretty simple just click the department you need.)

I hope this helps you guys out. I already knocked out $5 worth and I am happy with that because when I get home, I am going to have to work on hits that pay the same day.

    Happy Turking everyone.

In the 10 that I did before I left work to go home, I found it a ton easier to just Google the university along with course info and go from there. Their provided spreadsheet, for the most part, just adds confusion.

I've only done and few, but I haven't had to yet, no. What would you put there? If you feel the need to add something extra, by all means, do it! He will approve as long as you give your best effort and communicate when there's a problem or more info needed.

The last few of the .50 hits I have not been able to find the course being offered within the last few years. I am putting in the search page I found and telling him this. I am really hoping this is ok.

It is. He will approve it as long as you leave an explanation for it.

Yes CYOA and leave details, links, etc... May take you an extra minute, but it's worth it so you get paid and not rejected.

If there is no course for that university (ie any engineering class at DePaul) is it okay to write in the comments that the class doesn't exist?

of course. if no engineering classes exist for that school, let them know.

there has been some atrociously bad work done (ie the links...wow...people turn in this work. smh). i am just doing my best to give him good correct info and repair some of the damage of work from previous days when i have better info. agree with others that it's often worthless to look at the link. bad work is annoying...especially things like...looking for a class teacher for NYU when the link attached is for U of Toronto. laaaaame.

Agreed. Though it would make some cry, I think this Requester needs to require a link to a catalog. It shouldn't take me 10 minutes to explain each HIT or figure out why it is bogus and correct it. I mean common people turning in a course with a link that shows the last class was taught in 1995. Or to a freaking research paper for another University, which is not even relevant.

I was just about to chime in about this: I tried 10 or so of the “Find the Official Course Name and Number” HITs earlier today and they are already approved. But I ended up skipping 4 or 5 for every one I completed.
