well from an engineering point of view...yeah it is... but i guess not everyone can actually contribute important things to society
I have a bachelors degree in psychology. I hope I didn't go into all that debt for nothing. I wasn't aware that engineers hate psychologists. Do you need to talk about your feelings? We are all friends here. This is a safe place.
Psychology has contributed a lot to the understanding of people and how they work, and is especially helpful for understanding people in outlier conditions involving abuse or trauma. You can say that perhaps getting a degree is probably not a good idea compared to other options but it is certainly not useless to the human race
I mostly just dislike liberal arts degrees where the only thing you can do with that degree is teach other people what you learned. You cant create new things to improve the world. You just pass on knowledge that will be used in turn to pass on the same knowledge to someone else

I will not be teaching with my degree. Unless by teaching you mean advising people on how to deal with their problems. The psychology field is always growing.
Because psychologists don't help people right? Jung helped create Alcoholics Anonymous. I'd say that helps people. Psychologists help people who are mentally abused. Just because there are people that want to teach their subject (some good, some bad) it doesn't mean the major's SOLE purpose is to teach others.

There is a lot you can do with a masters in abnormal psychology with an emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy. If there wasn't I wouldn't be perusing it. I am two semesters away from achieving my masters. I'll be just fine thanks.
