Hey Nikki remember you offered advice that I should submit the HIT so I could get paid and email her when I found out I didn't have a code at the end? I submitted it and emailed her. Got reply from her hours later stating that I should just put in my worker ID in, was sorry about that, is trying to figure out what happened and that I will get paid. Cool. I'll be sure to note her communication in the TO.
Stop posting this people have told you over and over, Matt is most likely done. When I got the email from nick at MR he was not happy with the way work was handled on turk.
Going to take a wild stab here and say it was the mass, mass amount of inaccurate data that was just scanned through and submitted even though it was not current or irrelevant, wrong school, etc.
i'm going to email him some suggestions about dealing with this, if i can find his damn address in about 100 pages of turk emails in my acct...
At first these hits frustrated me, but then I got the hang of them. I made sure to give EVERY website that would bring them right to where I found my information. I gave them the website to the class schedule and each and every website to the professors (unless it was just one website that listed all the names and e-mails.) There were some pages where I gave them 6 or more websites where they could go back and find all the information to back up what I put. I really hope that the bad apples don't ruin it for those who actually put the time and effort to make sure we supplied them with the information they truly needed. I saw some were workers before us gave them class names that didn't even exist. I just skipped those and moved on to the ones that I for sure could find. Maybe they could sift through and choose the turkers that did a good job and give out personal invitations. Then they know they would have the information they needed and it would be done correctly.
I encountered the exact same thing. Either the people who did those incorrectly are complete idiots or complete assholes. I haven't decided which, yet
That makes it as much his fault for poor quality work. People are going to submit wrong things because HE gave wrong data to work with. I didn't but I'm sure there were some out there that did.
the problem though is also on his end. once batches of course hits were converted to professor hits and it became obvious that a lot of bad work was slipping past his spot-checking or whatever quality control he implements, scammers took full advantage of it... still no excuse for scamming to begin with, but it's not unrealistic to assume they're out there and measures need to be taken to prevent them from latching onto your work...
Yes Chris has a batch up, he always pays with in a day. Total payout is around 460 https://www.mturk.com/mturk/preview?groupId=2YEXHVKCJ0111C5T3C0KWW66AWB68J
You should do a good job if you accept a hit, but honestly 50 cents, he knew what he was getting into. I'm sure the budget for that was a lot greater, but you get what you pay for like Judge Milian says. It also made the second batches of finding the professor a lot harder on the people actually doing a good job and looking for the right semester. Some of these courses didn't exist or were for a 2011 or 2009 semester. If any type of QA was in place like at any job that needs some type of quality assured, then the whole problem could have been extremely minimized.
