My son is a freshman at, I'll say it...Texas State. I absolutely love it. They were known as the big party school in Texas (10 years ago they were Southwest Texas State). In trying to rehabilitate their image, they have gone far and above trying to help these kids succeed. They have a PACE program where each student gets as much individual counseling and help as they need. He hated his High School...lots of rich spoiled kids. His college has a tremendous amount of diversity which he absolutely loves. The only thing I don't like is paying 9K per semester for tuition, room and board. Either way, he's happier there than he would be at a private school like Baylor where tuition is more than double that.
Sounds like dirty socialism to me. More governments need to realize that providing for the welfare of their populace is way overrated. No one should ever get anything they didn't work for.
We'd have to put all the babies in group homes so that they wouldn't be able to coast on the things their parents got by working for them. A completely level playing field. It sounds expensive.
Financial aid at the federal level, $70 billion. Military spending, $672 billion. The irony is that idiots are convinced we can't cut a penny from military spending, all the while they cut school funding left and right, don't pay teachers enough, and tuition is far outpacing inflation.

I'm glad we have a strong military, but having a bigger budgeted military than the next 13 countries below us COMBINED, is ridiculous. My wife is a HS History teacher. 20 years in, what she gets paid is a disgrace for the amount of work she puts in. She'd be the first to tell you if she had it to do over again....not a chance, and she's a great teacher. Been teacher of the year a couple of times.
I saw a couple messed up things in the past day on RnR. I think I'm gonna stop HAMing these HITs for a while because at a certain point, the pay isn't worth seeing stuff like that. I mean pron I can deal with but the other stuff, not so much.
