I'm partial to moon-related songs tonight, even though the new moon is tomorrow (and therefore at its most invisible).

    Me neither. lol

But we could try it. Let me give the plants a little time to recover (they were given to me last weekend and I just got them planted today, so they're looking a little sad).

If they look ok by mid-week or so, then I'm willing to try it. In the meantime, I'll see what I can find out about mailing plants. I've actually had plants sent to me in the way that I mentioned; I just have never sent them myself.

Also, I went to that site and I want some of that red sage! Gorgeous plant!

    Sounds good! :)

They have some beautiful things, right?
I'm planning on getting some of their holy basil and neon marigolds, but so many other things are calling my name, too!

You could get a flat rate box from the post office. Get a quart bag, if the crown will fit in one, fill with damp sphagnum moss, poke a few holes with a fork, then put the crowns in the bag, bag into the box.

This will hold up a little better than a padded envelope when passing through the auto sorters.

Edit to add: I came in on the end of this conversation, so I'm not sure what plant you are talking about. If you are able to propagate them using crowns, this method should work pretty well.

Have you ever thought about papaver somniferum?

I used to have that (it re-seeded itself easily), but last year, for some reason (goats, probably), I ended up with only two plants and this year, I don't see any coming up. I had saved some seed but I don't know what I did with it.

Also, I have feverfew. When it goes to seed, I can send you some if you'd like. It's real easy to get the seed from (I had a bunch of it saved, too, but I can't find it either ). It also re-seeds itself.

Why poke holes in the bag? Won't that cause it to dry out faster?

I think we should play this song right here in the forum every time DRAMA breaks out...

No reason other than all the bulbs and such I've bought at garden centers always have some holes in the bag. I guess it wouldn't matter for a mailed object that would only spend a few days in transit, but something that would be in the bag for a while would mold. Although, it would allow for pressure differences if it's transported by air.

And it should be mandatory that we have to all get up and do the Shiny Happy People Dance...
