I just have a basic gaming computer that I built a year or so ago, and for both BTC and LTC, I found it better to mine with my GPU. Of course once those ASICs really start getting out there, it'll be completely pointless for me to mine. FWIW, I have an AMD FX-8150 Eight-Core Processor, and an nVidia GeForce GTX 560-Ti GPU. Edit: Granted, with either, I wasn't making very much, so I gave it up and started Turking more instead. Might invest in some BTC soon.
I'm mostly into LTC now. Mining with 1 7970 and 3 7950s. I ordered an ASIC from Avalon, but it was delayed and it looks like it won't be profitable by the time it gets here. Waste of a couple BTC. EDIT: Those 4 GPUs have nearly paid for themselves at this point. If I sold them right now I would probably end up about $400 positive.

I only wish there was a GH/s after my number. I don't recall exactly, it's been a few months, but I think I maxed out at just under 300 MH/s. I'd maybe make a dollar or two a day if the pool was having a decent day. Decided it wasn't really worth the strain on the hardware. Now if I could just stop impulse buying things on Amazon, I might be able to save enough to invest in a bitcoin or two...
