You are definitely overthinking it. British TV shows don't follow a regular schedule in the way that American TV shows do. Sometimes they'll have two "series" in one year; sometimes there will be several years in between "series."

Here's the breakdown for Red Dwarf:

Red Dwarf I aired from 15 February 1988 to 21 March 1988 (six episodes)
Red Dwarf II aired from 6 September 1988 to 11 October 1988 (six episodes)

The FoodEssentials are still dropping. I'm not sure how often. I check, without accepting, and sometimes they show up. I'm not interested in the icon ones myself.
