Okay, so I fell for the Rush card scam (rejected but in the comments said I'd get paid but you can't message them. I can't believe I did that.) Now I'm curious about the moneypak ones. All I have to do is get a $20 moneypak and send them the number. You get $40 in return. Sounds shady but they already paid me the $40 and I didn't give them the number yet. Can amazon take the money back from me if their account ends up being stolen or fake and then I'm out the $20? Has anyone else done one of these HITs because I see lots of them.

DON'T DO IT!!!!! These are both scams and you will not get paid.

take the approach that if it is too good to be true it is... because 99% of the time it is a scam.

If it sounds shady it is shady, never in the history of man has anything dealing with money sounding shady ever turns out to be legit.

Thanks. I didn't realize, being new and apparently lacking common sense, that there were scams on here. I thought because it was through Amazon, it was legit. Oh well.

It's a scam. Free money always is.

So they actually paid you the $20 through your Amazon Payments account? It looks like you did manage to profit off of the scam - at least assuming you don't follow through on the MoneyPak part.

No they expected you to buy a GreenDot card (5.00 service fee) and scan the back as well as provide them with the PIN. Funny shit if you ask me. Let me see if I can find the email they sent:

Hi, thanks for your interest. This job requires you to go to a grocery store and pick up a $20 greendot moneypak card. Then you submit your approval code and send in the card number and scan copy of the scratched card which will also display the number which you send to us.

This is totally up to you if you are interested, get back to me to take your approval code which you will submit on mturk and if you are not please ignore this message.

    Thank you

This sounds like a credit card scam. They use a stolen credit card to pay you through Amazon, meanwhile you go use real money to buy them the $20 card. What is probably going to happen if you actually get paid is the credit card company will catch on and issue a charge back. Then amazon will freeze your account to investigate. Its a lose lose situation.

They aren't paying you any money to go buy the card, they are trying to scam people to make them money

Edit: Guess they did pay the OP first, good for him

You mean like this? Or have I misrepresented this requester?

No, they actually paid me $40. It's already in my amazon account. That's why I was wondering if Amazon can reverse it if it turns out to be a scam. They gave me a code to enter and when I did, they paid me. Now I'm supposed to give them the moneypak. The fact that they paid me already has me really confused. And no, I didn't go through with it.

Nah, doubtful. If it's a scam and you got paid, they got their cut.

That's what I was thinking. I wonder if there is anyway I can get Amazon to reverse the funding and take it out of my account in case it is a scam.

You can return a payment to a requester if you click on the transaction in Amazon Payments.

Thank You! I don't want to get in trouble already! Personally I think all scammers should get the death penalty. They really have nothing else better to do with their time!?!

Think about this you go and buy the card, you have to load the card with your money, and you are supposed to send them the card information. In order to get the card you are supposed to put money on the card at the store. My ex had one and this is what he had to do. So then you send them the information and you are out of your money. What they are thinking is that you are going to keep loading money onto it and they will have the information and will spend the money. Come on please people, don't believe this crap you see on Mturk. Please use your common sense.

Am I the only one who can see the con's game and understand it to the point of no return.

I'm impressed that they actually paid. I guess that means that they already had their funding from other victims. The requester will probably get reported and suspended fairly soon. I have no idea if Amazon can take the money back from you if it's already paid.

No, I'm quite aware of all of that. That's why I wouldn't have gotten involved in this :)

Just because they paid don't mean nothing. This type of scam involves a stolen card or bank account...once it is discovered the company will reverse the charges and her money will be gone! If I were you I'd notify Amazon so they know you weren't part of any scam and ask them to investigate. If you initiate it before the bank or victim does you may not have your account suspended.

That's not how a Money Pack works.
