    Hey all!

I haven't done work for CW in a while, so I'm not sure how things are going now.

    Question:

I did some work the past week. I was paid for what I did January 1st, but not what I did December 30 and 31. December 29th was paid.

Do they pay out of order like that often -- or is something wrong?

Nothing to be concerned about. It happens often. If one got approved/paid, the others will follow suit.

I'm sure this has been resolved by now. (If not, that would be a big deal, relative to CW work!) But I just wanted to clarify that there are so many stages that a CW transcript could go through, with a lot of waiting that might or might not be involved, depending on how close to being fully transcribed the entire audio is. That's usually what the delay in payment is, if there is one. Though they kind of get around it by paying transcribers fairly early in an audio chunk's life.

I would guess that the holdup here was just that fewer people were working over the holiday, and because transcriptions aren't always processed first-in, first-out, they just didn't get around to those 12-30 and 12-31 ones as quickly as usual.

If you're curious about the whole CW process (what they do with a transcript after you submit it), I made a detailed blog post explaining it in December.
