Yep, says about the same thing, but in a clarified direct way. I'd be careful about scripts, although I think it's PREs that got them in a tizzy. It's worrisome. You can never tell how much they mean to do...if anything.

Yeah. They've officially approved scripts that help you complete work (using key locks to check radio buttons), but now there's some debate about whether or not scrapers or things like Panda Crazy will be tolerated.

A lot of the confusion comes down to the "high frequency" aspect. What is that, 10 seconds, 1 second, 10 milliseconds, etc...

I don't use scripts to do HITs like some people do (auto check boxes that are almost always checked) but of course I have scripts to show how much I made today and Turkmaster etc...I wouldn't even want to turk if these were banned and I don't know how many long time workers would. Much of this stuff that we use should be provided by Amazon but they don't fucking provide shit so it's up to third parties to make MTurk workable. So if they start cracking down on everyone using just basic scripts just to give us tools they should be providing us anyway I think they'll loose a lot of workers.

You can auto-refresh a page without a script (it requires an add-on in most browsers but not all). If auto-refreshing PandAs are going to be prohibited and seriously enforced it will be time to quit.

There's also the possibility that they are just writing this in as a cover all. Not planning on using it unless they find someone that is actually affecting the service of the site. Think of the scripters out there who have made something that scraps and auto accepts everything.

"Collecting personally identifiable information (e.g., don't ask Workers for their email address or phone number)"

Yeah, like lazy requesters are going to stop doing that. And if Amazon were really serious about it, they'd change it so you can send a requester a message without revealing your email. Something like prolific's setup where you get a "fake" email ID@mturk.com

The new TOS serves the same purpose as the old one though. Lets them suspend workers, and perhaps occasionally even a paying requester, with the words "TOS violation" and leave them clueless as to what the problem was.

Edit: plus of course the usual legal ass-covering for Amazon

yesterday i got a call saying that i came up first on a list for a one bedroom low income housing. forgot to ask if it's upstairs or downstairs (i have a bicycle). so i called today and got a call back quickly. it's a town house and the rent is only 405 dollars. that is amazing. when i heard townhouse i thought it was going to be like 600 a month or something. i have an appointment next tuesday to fill out an application. i'm so hoping for this.

right now i'm living in a quint (a quad but with 5 rooms sharing a kitchen instead of 4) and it's good for short term living but not for good so i'm so glad to get out.
