    They don't charge fees, but they do require a minimum of $10 to do a bank before they'll do a deposit. They don't really need to bill the workers since any expenses should already be covered by the fees requesters pay.

    Using the Amazon payment system is probably easier and more cost-effective than going through a third-party for payment.

    Amazon already has a very good payment system in place for their Marketplace vendors.

    Amazon does not allow Paypal (or other foreign online transaction system) because they don't allow payment to non-US countries, except for India. Any worker from another country is restriced from getting real money, and has to spend it on Amazon.com. Most probable reason is that they don't want to have tax conflicts.

    I understand that PayPal is owned by a competitor, but there are alternatives to it. Like AlertPay, Neteller, MoneyBookers, and others.
    MTurk already has a notoriety in "sites where you can make money", and if they don't assume this risk, in future will appear other sites just like MTurk, that will allow payments via PayPal/AlertPay/Neteller etc. and very probably MTurk will lose clients.
    There are already some alternatives, that pay in PayPal, but the tasks there aren't so great.

    Tax conflict is not a big problem, if properly monitored....especially for a well-founded company like amazon.
    The only thing is, they need customers for their market! Amazon.com...

    One thing I've noticed about the difference between getting paid by Amazon Payments or Paypal: when I move money from either of these to my bank account, even though they both have that standard warning about how it will take a week for the money to be available, in practice, when I send my Amazon payments money to my bank account, it actually only takes a couple days, but Paypal will take the whole week. But I like both.

    I am from India. I just received my first cheque from Amazon. Thanks. I would like to know as all the banks in india charge bank charges to process cheques, i am worried if anything is deducted from the actual amount of cheque. Can amazon provide option like western union money transfer?(direct account transfers) instead of sending cheques!! as it is a lengthy process!!!

    The amount mentioned in the check is payable at par at all branches/all banks across the country.

    @ashashamannavenkatram,

    Yes, some of the amount gets deducted as processing fee of the bank...For me, for about 5000rs, the processing fee was about 100rs..

    If you have the paypal debit mastercard, I don't see why you cannot use them as a payment method through amazon. it should come with a routing and checking number just like the prepaid cards. enter the information and see what it says. before i used my bank account i used a prepaid debit card which came with a routing and checking number. it worked.
