  2. Beactive, if you are here, don't quote me on the t2i deal on target lol.. I might have been mistaken -- not seeing it listed in the slickdeals archives...

I'm probably confusing it with a non-dslr. lol

lol no worries, if I see that deal though I am going to get one too. You never know what you are going to find out there in the holiday shopping season.

Good deal, you can do a lot with that camera and at that price range it's definitely worth it. Save your cash for a few good lenses, and then upgrade the body later on if you want to upgrade.

  5. That was posted in April.

Just chiming in. If you're going to shoot fast moving action, i.e. sports. You really want a camcorder over a DSLR because they won't autofocus fast enough to keep up. They're just not designed for that. If your shooting slow pans and anything that's maintaining the same distance then you're golden.

  7. Great insight. Yeah, that's definitely not the one I was thinking of -- I'm pretty sure I'm totally off since those archives are very comprehensive. Maybe it was the T1i? meh, I will look some other time *wipes egg off face*

Good point. Most people don't realize that with dslr video you will also get a whole lot of rolling shutter too, more so then with a camcorder. What dslr excels at for video is in a controlled setting where you can set up your shot on a tripod, manual focus, and shoot, or also in low light (unless you have a prosumer camcorder, or one with good low light performance). If you want a shallow depth of field effect, dslr is also the way to go (if factoring in price). Auto focusing, even on the 70d has not improved enough to compete with a good camcorder.

  9. Agreed on all points. I tried shooting action video (pee wee football)with some of my daughters DSLR's (she's a professional photographer). Even her 5D MarkIV with a fast lens couldn't keep up with my old Canon VIXIA HFS100 which maxes out at 30p.

BTW, tonights woot deal is up your alley. http://www.woot.com/

I could talk all night about cameras, definitely my weak point. If only I had a photography budget as big as my... Neverending quest for knowledge about photo and video related things.
