PM me if you want any tips on doing them. I have a pretty sick system that lets me do them 30-45 seconds.
I know that the power behind OCMP34 wants to pay us the least amount he (not the woman who posts here) can. He controls the price and lowers the pay until nobody works on them and then will up the pay just enough to get the work done. I don't like them so I don't do them. I think one of the mistakes with this requester is that she is really nice, on the forum, so the workers think she is their friend, rather than a faceless person controlling our pay.
Hey all, I don't really watch this thread, but if you have complaints please come post them to my thread. Though I can only do so much (I'm just one member of a much larger organization), every once and awhile a suggestion or complaint comes up that I can address. For example, there's been some talk of adding too many workers to the qual, so I'm pruning where I can do so politely without going back on my word.
Exactly. It's hard for me to balance the needs of my company (aka capitalism) with the needs of my workers. I do think your work is worth more. The reality of labor costs is that capitalism demands they go as low as they go without losing the necessary workers. The problem with mturk, as opposed to a full-time or even part-time employer, is that I/the corporation can change the pay of a task at a moment's notice, thus finding that "balance" very quickly rather than hiring and firing workers or trying to pass pay cuts. It's very difficult for me to pass pay cuts on here, and the criticism really does hurt, but in the end I am doing all I can to make working for ocmp34 pleasant while driving down the bottom line as is required of me. In the end, remember that I, too, am an employee.
A few thoughts. I'm insanely pro-workers rights. I've been to many 'fight for $15' protests and campaigned against anti-union legislation. I've seen you guys joke about wanting a union; I wish we could form one for real. I do not like when requesters pay so little. The other side of that is without requesters, we would have no work. Yeah, they could go find people via another method and we would have no work. To me it seems like a good thing that OCMP34 posts here and actually communicates with workers. Maybe some of y'all with more experience can tell me why this isn't a good thing. If a requester accidentally posted hits with less work than they intended, I'm not going to flip out if they repost a corrected batch. Just look at the current batch and decide if it is worth your time. There has to be some kind of balance. Making money is important but ultimately everyone has their own sense of right and wrong and what they feel comfortable with. Just curious, when you do those decision making surveys do you always pick the option that will get you the most money even if it screws the other player?
Can confirm. Was successfully pruned for submitting several N/A's & not being OK with not finding results, so rather than continue on I stopped. Learned my lesson. Won't happen again, I assure you.
A trick I use to make the 1st sentence longer is I find where the company is located and add "In the Pittsburgh area" or whatever area the company is located if it applies. The 1st sentence length was the only thing I sometimes had problems with. This fixed that
