Actually, it's a social psychology book that *seems* to be talking about twerking and turking (and a bunch of other topics). https://books.google.com/books?id=h...werking to turking" "mechanical turk"&f=false Somebody needs to make that their avi.
500K approved eh? uh..... okay, yeah I'm curious how many qualify for this (they also have much cheaper HITs of this same nature, search on the requester) Title: $1.00 - Where are you? (2 second HIT) -- 500k approvals Requester: techlist [A2A5SB7NENZHLK] (TO) TO Ratings: ☢☢☢☢☢ 2.99 Communicativity ☢☢☢☢☢ 3.56 Generosity ☢☢☢☢☢ 3.71 Fairness ☢☢☢☢☢ 3.39 Promptness Number of Reviews: 183 (Submit a new TO rating for this requester) Description: Just enter your Zip Code. Please only do this HIT once. Time: 1 minute 30 seconds Hits Available: 2 Reward: $1.00 Qualifications: Total approved HITs is not less than 500000
That's probably what they're curious about too. I'm kinda tempted to spend a few bucks learning how to set up a similar HIT and see how many responses one could get at those types of milestones. 1 million I'm sure some have managed to do after what, almost a decade? I wonder if mturk has a limit you can input for total #s. I wonder if techlist makes their findings for their research public. I know I think I read somewhere that they had a map of turkers around the world from a few years ago or something.
RE: Regarding Amazon Mechanical Turk HIT Type 30MQSQ7C9TB39GN5IV8R9KGSHYSBTE Hi, Thanks for the email. We understand our web server is not quite stable today and some problems reported from some different workers. We'll take a look and basically approve all reasonable HITs. We're carefully planning our budget and considering get a better web server. Hope we can get a faster machine soon. Thanks! Best, Kenneth
There may be more than you think, especially if they work like Frog in any way http://mturkforum.com/showthread.php?33263-I-Frog&p=1311695#post1311695 He's at 310,000 in just 90 days, so 500K is nothing really for him.
