I'm seeing more and more surveys that lock you out if you've got more than 5,000 or so hits. Has the academic community just decided that if you're an experienced turker than you're a likely scammer?
I feel like I've read something where the academic community isn't worried about scammers as much as "professional survey takers" who have seen so many of the same questions that respondents tend to start falling into pre-programmed answers or to not be influenced as much as "normal" people by survey conditions, thus not being a normal representative sample to study. Or something like that. And HIT limits are a poor stopgap measure but it's probably the easiest thing they can do.
