They were ruled racist and unconstitutional because they were used as political tools to prevent groups of citizens who had not received proper access to education from voting. The tests themselves are not at all racist, just the purposes for which they were employed. In essence, literacy tests were a WALL used to keep former slaves out of the democratic process.
I really need to spend ten bucks on a backup mouse. I have a box full of old PS2 mouses, but somehow only the one USB mouse. Make that one semi-functioning USB mouse. Driving me nuts with the random double clicks today. Might be time for a quick trip to WalMart for a temporary fix then finally look for a decent programmable mouse -- I always worry I am going to hit random buttons the way I hold the mouse though.

"Polls" have been done showing anywhere between 10-15% of Bernie supporters refusing to vote for Hillary. Another 15-20% backing her only because she's the nominee, and around 30% backing her with "strong reservations". For me personally, voted Sanders in the Virginia primary and it's still a toss-up between Trump and Jill Stein or some other third party candidate. No way will I vote for a Clinton. Most of my family and friends feel the same way.
