Thing is, it's not abusing the MTurk system. That's just the way the system is. Be that as it may, if you prefer to know when we see this stuff happening, that's ok too.
No they had both, and they did fine on the blind test we gave. So Not sure what justified what they did, but now they have neither. ~ Mark L.
By "the system" I was referring to our "Medcrowd" system (communication, HIT layout, functionality, flexibility etc). ~ Mark L.
Pft I couldn't imagine being able to stock up over 1000+ hits in your que... I've heard that when you are a master there is no limit to the amount of hits you can accept at a time. But still to take that many when you know there is no way you can properly do them before the timer runs out is ridiculous. Glad they got their qual revoked. That being said now that there are less people working on these hits I was able to get over 100 without hoarding any Usually I do about 15 at a time just so I can do easy math to figure out how much I've made.
Well this person wasn't hoarding. I think the ideas got confused. They spend on average 2 seconds on each hit. So basically they just accepted, n/a'd, submitted, repeated. ~ Mark L.
I knew masters had no captchas but I thought they still had a limit on the HITs they could stockpile like regular accounts. Personally I tend to do them one at a time until the numbers dip down really low, then I take (or "horde") the amount I estimate I could do within the time limit. 1K doesn't even sound like somebody being greedy, it just sounds like somebody being a complete tool.
Did they not realize you can see the time taken per HIT? Like, did they just think you were going to think that maybe they had really, really fast internet and reading ability?
That's definite abuse of the system. Sounds like someone thought that since they survived the test, they wouldn't be monitored at all. Yeah, that person deserves to be gone.
Fyi. system is hanging onto 1 HIT right now. So whoever has it drop it lol. Otherwise I will get the 2nd step started when I get home. Yes you read that right. I'm going to take my laptop home to make sure you all get work, and I have a job still ~ Mark L.
I see it all!! lol. Just a matter of seeing it. Since I have to run this manually I have to pay closer attention. If I didn't run out for lunch (stupid bank) would have caught him/her sooner. ~ Mark L.
Wow, just got back from errands and reading all this. Sorry to hear there's problems. Hope it's fixed.
Well I can force the system to stop, but I'd rather not. So I'm giving it a chance to surrender the last HIT before I go to town on it lol. ~ Mark L.
Going home. If all goes well I'll be home in 20 minutes and the hit would be up 10 minutes later than that. So plan for 5:30 PM EST or 2:30 PM PST. And anywhere in between for the rest of you (sorry to those outside the US, you get all other times haha) ~ Mark L.
Wow, 2 seconds a HIT is blatantly spamming. I'm quick...but 2 seconds is impossible. As far as the whole some people hate hoarding thing that comes up alllll the time...lowering the HIT timer would not help. All lowering the HIT timer would do is cause people to submit 25 poorly worked HITs at the end, because people will "hoard" no matter what the timer is. Personally I think every HIT should have a timer that allows time for 25 HITs to be completed, to avoid the poor work being done at the end. You cannot complain about other people "hoarding" when it's something that you could do as well. If you don't do it, on ANY task that is popular, then you are just missing out on the end of a batch...simple as that. But you can't complain because others do it and it's really annoying that people complain about it so much.
I have to disagree. Make it a 2.5 minute time limit per hit and you think people would take the time to hoard 5-10 hits. It would be a waste of time in my opinion. If one does 20 hits in 2.5 minutes, just reject them and ban them.
