Depends. It's not as good as it used to be. If you do legal or medical it's okay. But even that can be a struggle unless you're working directly with businesses one on one. Edit: If you're looking to make "real" money, you're better off selling a product or a highly in-demand service.
That's the easiest part, IMO. There's always a way to improve on someone else's service or take an entirely different approach. Pitch to a different audience, change up the features, figure out a way to make someone else's life easier, accomplish something faster with more efficiency, etc.

yup! innovation can be profitable. I have been looking at affiliate linking and reselling on ebay. Get the right audience etc. All the things you say.... In fact I recall you saying this a few years ago..still holds true. Funny...I just found a script that takes you to the work area on the a9's and lets u skip a step...it is easier!
They still use pedals, but that only takes you so far. The higher-paid transcription work usually involves a lot of formatting and/or obnoxious terminology, and I really doubt I'll ever go back to that shit. I primarily did depositions, court documents, and medical examiner/autopsy reports. When I wasn't typing, I had my nose in giant legal and medical dictionaries trying to figure out how to spell Hypinharwehfhmsihoiysims. Wanted to tear my hair out on a daily basis.
