It was a 4-hour test. Pretty much any school takes the ACT. So take it for what you wish. I also went to a top 25 university and was a bit above average (3.3, lots of math/science classes that get curved to a 2.5).. the average student having a 3.7 in high school.

The ACT and SAT test different things, and as someone mentioned some schools want different scores. Personally I took the SAT and scored high enough to get into international schools without needing to take their own tests, wasn't allowed to continue on the CAT hits because I "didn't have the data they were looking for."

Yep, Arkansan here. My high school offered the SATs and I took them twice. I think the ACT was easier, partially because if I remember correctly there was no guessing penalty. Most schools in the area didn't care at all about SAT scores anyway; I just took it in case I wanted to go out of state if I got a great scholarship.

Not exactly, ACTs are more aimed towards students that plan on staying in-state for college. It is typically used more in the Midwest and South, whereas East and West prefer the SAT. They are typically weighed the same when looked at by Universities. A lot of people say the ACT math section is harder than the SAT. *shrug*

The SAT measures what someone has already learned and the ACT measures a person's ability to learn.

So wait, you went to a top 25 university and yet you're on Mturk, casting judgement down on other people doing shitty surveys for pennies? Are you kidding me?

You are correct, there isn't a penalty.

If you got enough of their questions right, and enough of the "obvious" ones right, they'd probably give you the qual. It could be a matter of misunderstanding the test, who knows. This bonus is for the top 50% based on score, and I'm sure I got that. Heck, you probably would have as well, because the entire CAT series was the logic-type questions, nothing visual/pattern-based, no anagrams, etc.

Wooo pig sooie! U of A was grad school for me. My LSATS + undergrad GPA were high enough to get a free ride my first two years as an out of stater. Still, that was so long ago I'm not sure the experience translates to those CATS hits.

Other than your pretentious, holier-than-thou attitude, I don't think anyone has a problem.

I know we're just a bunch of strangers on the Internet but I think it might be a constructive exercise if for the next two hours we pretend we're co-workers. Because real world jobs have some rules they don't teach in school and it's always best to be prepared for new things.
